I am buzzing reading Paul Fain's article about the work Intermountain Health is doing with InStride 👋 (and FutureFit AI!) to hire frontline healthcare workers then guide them to higher-level jobs 🏹 . This MATTERS to our teetering healthcare system: ➡ Nationally, healthcare has reached a tipping point where we cannot hire our way out of a nursing shortage (only 10% of the solution will come through hiring) ➡ 90% of the solution will be reskilling current workers or bringing in entry-level employees from other industries and guiding them toward roles in critical need In my years working with drowning Talent teams within healthcare, they consistently are battling 1) severe burnout 😪 2) retaining critical roles due to a muddled (at best) picture of what long-term careers exist and HOW to get there. This initiative is incredible, creating 'on-ramps' by painting a clear picture and guiding employees toward careers as nurses, radiology techs, and licensed social workers. 🗺 This includes coverage of upfront tuition costs as workers complete necessary certifications or pursue college degrees! My favorite part? "To be eligible, participants can’t hold a four-year college degree. They also must be unemployed or working in jobs that pay less than $15 per hour." In addition, there is a focus on "students who are over 25 years old, full-time workers, or parents of small children." This is equity. This is truly showing people what they can be, how they can get there, with the ecosystem putting their money where their mouth is in support.
