Frank Erne, our 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 & 𝐅𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭, hosted a working session inside this 2 day workshop of the 𝐀𝐆 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐳𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 at the VDMA. Together with more than 60 representatives out of the industrial sector he highlighted, among other things, how scaling of the balance of plant components will make an important cost reduction contribution. Chinese invest €2 billion in factory in Portugal China Aviation Lithium Battery Technology (CALB) http://en.calb-tech.com/ is the promoter of a project for a lithium battery factory in Sines, in the district of Setúbal, which is under public consultation. According to Jornal Económico, the unit foresees an investment of 2,060 million euros and the creation of 1,800 direct jobs. For the Chinese company, the objective is to start production by the end of 2025, due to high demand from customers, mainly from the automotive industry. The industrial unit will be located on a 45-hectare plot of land in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone (ZILS) and will have a capacity of 15 gigawatt-hours (GWh), equivalent to 38.6 million cells per year. In November 2022, CALB told Lusa that this project, which was recognized as a Project of Potential National Interest (PIN) in March last year, could represent more than 4% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) when it is in full swing. In four years, the company hopes to expand the facilities, scaling the unit from 15 to 45 GWh.

This is an important step that enlarges OMT’s manufacturing base, responding to the growing demand of innovative dual-fuel injection systems. Acquiring OMC2 strengthens OMT’s position as leading supplier and innovator in the fuel injection development for alternative fuels for large marine engines and power applications. In 2023 about 50% of ship orders included dual-fuel engines requiring more advanced fuel injection systems which are mission-critical to transitioning to alternative fuels like green methanol, ammonia and hydrogen.
