The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans safety improvements for a one-mile stretch of Wade Hampton Boulevard in Greenville County, targeting vehicular and pedestrian safety between East Lee Road and Watson Road. A road safety assessment found 311 crashes from 2018 to 2022. Proposed changes include concrete medians to reduce angle collisions, upgraded signal equipment at four intersections, new sidewalks, ADA-compliant ramps, crosswalks, and countdown signals. The $2.1 million project will start property negotiations in fall 2025, with construction beginning in fall 2026 and taking about a year. Local reactions are mixed, balancing safety benefits with concerns over increased U-turns. #SCDOT #Transportation #RoadSafety #Improvements

What is the Developers Responsibility for Roadway Improvements? •City/County coordinates with NCDOT District Engineer to determine potential impacts of a specific development based on the Traffic Impact Analysis. • If a developer provides any improvements to state/city roads, it is because NCDOT/City requires some and suggests others. oImprovements may include off-site intersection operational additions, Construction of thoroughfare within the Development, road widenings oExample: Additional left turn lane on Eastbound US 70 onto Leesville (see picture) & additional receiving lane on NC 98 at Olive Branch Rd.

Promoter and Designer of State-of-the-Art Transportation Systems that Maximize Passenger Throughput while Stimulating Economies and Preserving the Environment
https://lnkd.in/gPM8pXxF This is definitely not my favorite project. The lanes neck down to 9 feet wide when crossing the numerous bridges in Merced. There are numerous rubber marks approaching each of the bridges indicating motorists crashing into the K-rail. When my parents visited me in Clovis coming down from the Sacramento area, they would drive way out of their way through Los Banos just to avoid Merced. It is best that Caltrans not mention "drive more carefully" because the standard lane width of 11 feet through Merced is the standard through work zones, and necking down to 9 feet does not meet CA MUTCD (California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) requirements. Are lane additions involved. I sure hope so, because this work zone is horribly inconvenient for motorists. I would have widening the bridges first, then set up the traffic handling. This way, the lanes can maintain their standard of 11 feet. #caltrans #civilengineering #trafficengineering

🚧 Road Construction Alert 🚧 What? Road construction and traffic pattern change. Where? Eastbound lanes of Miller Road between Saturn Rd. and Edgefield Dr. When? Starting March 11 Why? Contractors will close both eastbound lanes. The westbound lanes will be converted into a two-lane road (one lane going east, one lane going west). This traffic pattern is expected to last about three months. Work will then switch over to the other side. Expect that traffic pattern to last another three months. Please plan accordingly. #GarlandTX

On the endless highway of road construction, Interstate 95 and the Main Street bridge will be getting their turn in the next five-year wave of billions of dollars in state transportation dollars for Northeast Florida. The state Department of Transportation's tentative five-year work program for Northeast Florida shows nearly $1.37 billion for road construction on I-95 through 2029. Most of that money will go toward widening I-95 through the Southside of Jacksonville and northern St. Johns County toward the end of the decade. Below is a list highlighting the Kane County Division of Transportation's (KDOT) major construction projects of 2024. Drivers are reminded to use caution and obey speed limits when driving through work zones. And, remember, using handheld phones is illegal when driving anywhere in Illinois Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Corridor – This year KDOT will finish paving the last mainline roadway section from Sandbloom/Williams Road to the Bolz Road Connector. This project is considered a "once in a lifetime" project for the staff at KDOT because of its scope. This is the second such project bringing a new bridge over the Fox River, the Stearns Road Bridge Corridor being the first. See https://lnkd.in/gCfpnmCQ for additional information. Dauberman Road Extension from US 30 to Granart Road – This project will construct a new grade separated structure over the BNSF RR and over US 30. At the completion of this contract this fall, KDOT will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to open this new roadway extension which will improve safety, access and system continuity. See https://lnkd.in/g--6fRgs for additional information. Plank Road from Engel Road to Waughon Road federal safety-funded improvement – This project will include the addition of wider paved shoulders, wider edge lines, centerline and edge line rumble strips, and associated ditch/drainage improvements with a fall 2024 target completion.
