𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁? This story from "Darknet Diaries" is about a young girl named Justina Pelletier who had mitochondrial disease. Her parents disagreed with Boston Children's Hospital's diagnosis of her condition and as a result, the hospital took Justina away from her parents. This led to a legal and media battle that got a lot of attention and sparked protests. During this time, a hacker group called Anonymous attacked the hospital's computer systems, saying it was in defense of Justina's rights. The story explores the complicated conflicts between medical authority, parental rights, and public reaction in a highly digitized world. It culminates in the conviction and imprisonment of Martin Gottesfeld, who organized the cyber-attacks, showing the serious consequences of digital activism. The targets of this narrative are predominantly the online emporiums that flourish within the realm of Facebook. Within this chronicle, the proprietors of said virtual stores find themselves ensnared in a web of deceit. Picture this: The store owner receives a direct missive from an ostensibly unassuming customer. The crux of the matter revolves around an alleged complication with a purchased item. In an attempt to substantiate their claim, the Facebook user appends a file to the discourse - a .zip file, to be precise. Enclosed within this digital cocoon are images purportedly depicting the fractured item in question. Yet, a perilous twist awaits those who venture forth. Upon unzipping the archive, a solitary entity emerges - a .bat file (this seemingly innocuous abbreviation conceals a more intricate reality - a Batch file is a script that orchestrates commands within DOS, OS/2, and the realm of Microsoft Windows). Should one impulsively execute this script, a cascade of events is triggered, culminating in the clandestine deployment of APT malware. This insidious software serves but one purpose - espionage. Let us navigate through the key aspects: It is important to underscore that the scope of this assault is confined solely to machines bearing the Windows OS. Should the unfortunate circumstance befall you, a strategic recourse emerges - contemplation of a complete OS reinstallation is advised. As fate would have it, my involvement in such an investigation was beckoned forth by a reporter of the NOVA Broadcasting Group. I tender my apologies for resorting to modest online tools, as my whereabouts at that time were tethered to a vacation setting, replete with constraints on resources and remote from the familiarity of my home and office environs.
