Is Sales a “numbers game” or a communication play? I’ve enjoyed (and endured) a great B2B sales career working with C-level leaders and their teams across startups to mid-market companies in multiple industries. Navigating multi-generational teams, both internally and externally, lit my passion to understand people and solve problems. And I’m a communication geek. Love verbal, non-verbal and written communications. For all the marks I missed when connecting with buyers and clients… I’ve learned priceless lessons that honed my craft. Today, anyone with *revenue goals* is expected to personalize their conversations and communications with buyers and clients. And with 4 (primary) generations of B2B buyers and clients in the market, how can Sales not be a communication play? If you’re in a Lead Gen, Sales, Account Management, or Customer Success role with revenue goals, I hope these steps help hone your communication: ↪️ Learn Generational Agility: Study up on the attitudes and buying behaviors of Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. ↪️ Hyper-personalize Your Outreach: Tailor communication channels and personalized messages in the buyer or clients preferred format. ↪️ Ask Thought-provoking Questions: Research the buyer or client’s background, industry, competitors, and customer audience to ask questions that invite open conversations. ↪️ Highlight Targeted Benefits: Speak to what matters most to each generation, from reliability to quality to innovation to sustainability. Adopt a multi-generational mindset and communication approach to boost how your buyers and clients engage… and watch revenues grow. I twitch when hearing “sales is a numbers game “. For me, it’s a communication (and value) play. What’s your take? #salesstrategy, #multigenerationalmindset #communication #buyerengagement #clientexperience #revenuegrowth
