Are there hidden barriers for women in leadership? According to research, certain hidden disadvantages affect team members and how they think about fairness. In many work settings, women face invisible disadvantages, such as less favourable ratings by managers and clients compared with identical work by their male colleagues demonstrating the same effort and skill. In another study, hiring committee members rated applicants as 1.3 times more competent and suggested a 14% higher salary if a resume included a man's name rather than a woman's. ⭐️ How can we encourage more women to take leadership roles?⭐️ This is a question I have been asked a lot this International Women’s Month. Female participation in labour is 24% vs 74% for males. What more. This number has been steadily dropping. In 2010, it was 29%. Fewer women than men join the workforce. Even fewer women stay on through the course of a decade’s career, forget 3-4 decades. The first job is to fix the leaky pipeline. The second job is to fix the question - How do we encourage more people to aspire for leadership roles? And the answer is simple but most likely powerful. ⭐️Take ownership and accountability. For outcomes, decisions, plans, problems. For your people’s well-being.⭐️ That’s the biggest step to becoming a successful leader, gender agnostic at that. #womenleaders #leadership #womensday2024 #accountability

Helping Energy and Clean Tech businesses hire the best senior talent | 100% track record of filling every role | AKA 'The Cornish Indian Recruiter'
Female leaders! Loyalty can sometimes come at a cost. Research from the University of London shows loyalty can lead to exploitation and unpaid work, affecting women more than men. A survey found 64% of UK women stayed in their roles in the past year, but only 68% believe their managers invest in their career growth compared to 75% of men. I've heard from many women who stay in unsatisfying roles out of loyalty. They then suffer from a widening pay gap and career stagnation. Women leaders often stay in roles to protect their teams from workplace issues, sacrificing their own advancement. Despite the benefits of loyalty, it’s crucial you prioritise your own personal growth and seek new opportunities if they arise. Even in the best workplaces, there’s no certainty that a company will reciprocate your commitment, dedication, and loyalty. Loyalty should not mean forever. Stay long enough to make meaningful contributions, but always keep your growth in focus. Love your job, but be ready to leave for new opportunities. #CareerGrowth #Leadership #WomenInLeadership #EmployeeRetention

The leaders' leader on inclusion - helping leaders connect values driven leadership with commercial and organisational success #speaker #coach #writer #consultant #trainer #designer of change programmes
Being a leader is hard, and constantly pushes us out of our comfort zones in ways we cannot choose. I wonder whether the slow pace of change in diversity has something to do with leaders thinking (consciously or unconsciously) that leaning into inclusion work is one area of potential discomfort they can deprioritise or avoid. What do you think? Attracting and retaining diversity requires leaders to evolve their leadership practice, let go of ways of working that can feel easy and comfortable and put effort into learning new approaches. This article about the finance sector highlights: - Nearly seven out of 10 of the “most powerful jobs in UK business” - Of the appointments made last year across 26,000 board and leadership roles, around 65% went to men #inclusion #diversity #leadership #leaders https://lnkd.in/eQ2t_n_Y
