Our charity partner Know Thyself Charity is currently running a fantastic challenge, combining exercise and donations to raise awareness of mental wellbeing in the workplace. The 54321 Challenge follows a collective journey that stretches 54,321 miles, the equivalent of LA to Winchester. Participants are running, cycling, swimming, and utilising many other forms of self-propelled travel to go the distance, with several of our own La Fosse team taking part (as you can see below). So far, 35% of the total distance has been travelled, with just over a month to go until the end of the challenge. As we gear up for our 5th charity ball, reflecting on the journey, we can't help but feel a renewed sense of purpose. This year, we're back stronger than ever. Traditionally, my charity challenges have been marked by rest, sleep-outs for the homeless, and wild adventures supporting organizations like Loros. However, this milestone year called for something extraordinary. Over a few brainstorming sessions with my dream team – the incredible charity cyclist Darren and the marathon man Kevin – we pondered over a challenge that would not only commemorate the occasion but also push our limits. The idea of a triathlon emerged, but seasoned Darren cautioned that it might not attract the attention we seek. Enter Kev, with his wisdom, suggesting a catchy name for the event – and so, the "Fiveathlon" challenge was born. Picture this: 5 half Ironmans 70.3 miles, in 5 diverse locations, spanning 5 consecutive days. It's not just a physical feat but a testament to the power of collaboration. We're not just running for ourselves – we're running for a cause. We are supporting our 3 finalists of charity of the year, STEPS, FOCUS and HEARTWIZE. These worthy charities fuels our motivation. My role in this endeavor? Well, according to my dream team, it's to get in shape – having never swam in open water and carrying a fair few extra pounds there’s some work to do and here's my public commitment to it. By sharing this, I'm hoping it becomes a source of motivation and accountability. But we can't do this alone. We're calling on our network, friends, and colleagues to join us for a leg of this journey and, more importantly, to support us in raising funds for these great charities. Stay tuned for updates from Kev as he navigates the logistics, and feel free to ask me about my training – I'll need all the accountability I can get! Let's make this Fivathlon challenge more than just a physical feat; let's turn it into a testament to the strength of community and the impact we can create together. 🏃♂️🌈 #Fivathlon #CharityRun#CommunityImpact

The best thing about donating to a charitable cause is that.... you donate and make a difference. Sometimes you may think that if I do not donate X amount, it's not worth it or what will people think. On the other hand, in times like the present one, where a large section of the population in most parts of the world, is bearing the burnt of constantly high prices, one may feel the need to not spend much on anything that is perceived to be necessary. Well, in times like these the charitable causes need our support the most. And guess what, every #donation, no matter how small it is, counts. This is where power of community comes to work. For example, I am running in this year's #tcslondonmarathon for raising £ 2000 for Get Kids Going!, a UK based #charity, inspiring differently abled youngsters to compete in sporting events, from start to paralympic level providing them full support. As of today, I have managed to raise £ 562. I have four more weeks to complete the goal. So, - if 1438 of my 6615 #LinkedIn connections choose to donate £ 1 each - if 719 of my 1200 #UK based LinkedIn connections choose to donate £ 2 each - if 480 of my 1000 #London based LinkedIn connections choose to donate £ 3 each I will reach my target. Sharing below the link to donate to my cause, with great hope:

A few people have messaged asking how they can support the HoodEx Charity. The truth is, we have to build the gym as we go, and until it's finished, we're always playing catch-up. We haven't had any substantial funding, and while I understand some people's viewpoint that I don't help myself because of how I rant and rave, and swear a lot, I don't see anyone else trying to do what I am, so unfortunately, I'm the person who's at the helm of this ship... Where's my old skipper Jerry Kyd when you need him? Anyway.... here's the final push. We just need gym equipment, and commercial gym flooring now, and while I'll be doing my usual ducking and diving (Ron Overton MBA described me as the best ducker and diver he's ever met), to get everything by hook or by crook, hard cash always helps! Please take a moment to read the following: At the HoodEx Charity (charitable status pending), we are creating a boxing gym and fitness center that is run by our beneficiaries. Our beneficiaries consist of young people at risk of offending, ex-offenders, individuals living in supported accommodation, and those with low-level mental health issues. In exchange for voluntarily running the gym, our beneficiaries receive free one-on-one training, boxing classes, and bespoke courses designed to improve physical health, mental well-being, and employment skills. HoodEx is peer-led by individuals with lived experiences similar to those we assist. We are specifically looking to raise money for commercial gym equipment. https://gofund.me/c287f39e

At One Impossible Thing we want to break down barriers that impede people from participating in sport. Redistributing preloved sports shoes to those who struggle to afford them, is our main way of doing this. But we also know that sometimes motivation is a barrier from getting out there and being active. Which is why we're involved in organising the Boxmoor Virtual Marathon! The idea is to run, bike, scoot, walk, swim or wheel your way through the 26 miles/42kms, over a ten week period. In this Olympic year, the virtual marathon starts when the Olympic Flame arrives in France on 8th May. You have until mid July to complete your marathon, so you can have your finishers medal in time for the Olympic Opening Ceremony! It’s a great challenge for families, who can get out together on their bikes or on a walk together. If you do 5kms each week, you’ll have completed your marathon by July, with time to spare! All money raised through sponsorship will ensure we can carry on with all the work we do with schools, homeless charities, refugees groups and school holiday activity camps. Once registered, you can ask families and friends to sponsor you. If you ask 10 people for £10, that’s £100 you’ve raised! Here is to 10 more great years
Wow, 10 years today The Running Charity became a registered charity, we tend not to look back as an organisation or a team, focused firmly on the young people, where they are going and how we can support them. But days like this are important to mark. As a charity we have pioneered and paved the way, demonstrating the power of running to reach in and raise up the lives of people that much of society and sport had turned their back on. There are so many people we need to thank but we wanted more than anything to thank the 1000s of young people who have put one foot in front of the other to be better than the hand they were dealt and build a better life for themselves. From the first group who designed it with us to those of you who are just starting their journey now, we are so proud to be with you by your side. Over the next year, we will be creating, crafting and celebrating this milestone with this beautiful community, stay tuned, stay running, and keep caring! If you want to be part of leading the run and transforming both the running community and those most in need of its transformative power, then get in touch.

It's inspiring to witness athletes like #CameronNorrie leading the charge in addressing climate change, ensuring the sustainability of sports in the face of environmental challenges. Additionally, the transition of sports grounds towards implementing carbon sink practices marks a positive shift, demonstrating proactive efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental stewardship. Furthermore, there's an exciting opportunity for corporate sponsorship to align with sustainability goals by supporting sporting initiatives that remove CO2e emissions and provide biodiversity gain associated with sports events. This not only benefits the environment but also enhances the reputation of both the corporations and the sports organizations involved, setting a commendable example for other industries to follow suit in combatting climate change.
🎾ICYMI: 5x ATP Tour Titleist, Cameron Norrie, has offset all 28 tournament trips in 2023 🗣️ “I try my best now to reduce my carbon footprint where I can, from cycling everywhere to taking the train when possible” he says 🏆 Norrie finished third on the Carbon Tracker leaderboard and donated $20,000 to Sported, a charity for sustainability initiatives at grassroots clubs and other young communities in the UK 🔖 Read: : https://lnkd.in/erd7GZNb #sportpositive #greensports #sportsforclimateaction #ATPTour #tennis
