Researchers have made a pivotal breakthrough in clinical trials, especially for those battling pancreatic cancer. A study reveals the brand of basement membrane extract (BME) used in cultivating patient-derived organoids (PDOs) does not impact drug response or gene expression. This allows flexibility in BME selection for researchers, speeding up organoid growth and enabling faster, personalized treatment approaches. Especially significant for pancreatic cancer research, this could mean faster treatment adaptation for patients, offering a glimmer of hope against one of the most aggressive cancers. #PancreaticCancerResearch #ClinicalTrials https://lnkd.in/eazVx7Cu

Researchers are investigating a subtype of breast cancer known as estrogen receptor-alpha positive (ER+). Gene fusions, where genes combine in unusual ways, may play a role in its progression. A neoplastic fusion transcript called RAD51AP1-DYRK4 was found in this cancer type, suggesting it is aggressive. A MEK inhibitor may be able to block this fusion-driven pathway and offer treatment options for recurrent and aggressive breast cancer cases. For your #sundaymorning reading, pleased to share our paper in Trends in Cancer a Cell Press Journal -->Impact of tissue-agnostic approvals for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. Most of the clinical trials that have resulted in tissue-agnostic approvals included patients with various GI malignancies, providing real-world evidence for efficacy in this population Inhibitors designed to target gene fusion-driven tumors have demonstrated remarkable response rates in patients with pancreatic cancer, for which few effective therapy options exist. #PrecisionMedicine https://shorturl.at/chDE7

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) estimates there will be 28 million new cancer cases each year by 2040. At Ambagon, we are developing a new class of medicines addressing some of the most challenging targets in oncology, including applications in oncogenic signaling, gene expression, cell cycle deregulation, and other cancer-driving processes. On #WorldCancerResearchDay – and every day – we reinforce our commitment to reducing the number of patients with cancer and improve survival rates. #WCRD23 #CancerResearch #Oncology

Spread the word. #mengetbreastcancertoo. It's #breastcancerawareness month. But #women aren't the only ones who can get breast cancer. In Canada, each year, 1 in 833 #men will develop #breastcancer. The risk increases to 1 in 12 in men who carry a #brca2 gene mutation. For more information about the #brca gene mutation and find out how to get #genetictesting, visit www.brcasupportbc.org /brca-in-men.
