We love pride. We love lunch. We love crafting. We love love. This week, we combined all of these during a lunchtime event hosted by the LAIKA Pride ERG, where LAIKAns came together to write empowering and encouraging messages on 600 hearts cut from locally recycled seed paper. The hearts will be used as giveaways at this year’s Pride Parade in downtown Portland. It will be LAIKA’s third year participating and first year sponsoring! We can’t wait to celebrate all things pride on July 21. #LifeAtLAIKA #pride #PDXpride

As a Triqui descendant, amoung others in my mestiza heritage, I want to share about Tequio, a core practice in Triqui culture. Tequio is mandatory community service, essential for earning respect and authority in Triqui society—it's a duty and way of life. In Tequio, all able community members (especially men 16+) contribute unpaid work for communal good. This includes agriculture and maintaining community infrastructure. It's a prerequisite for leadership roles, which are proposed yearly by a general assembly. Reciprocity isn't a one-time act or something to offset "sins" like corporate carbon credits. It's an ongoing commitment. In traditions like the Kogi Kaggaba (Colombia), offerings called Pagamentos acknowledge what we take from nature: air, water, food, land. We must uplift indigenous wisdom keepers and their communities who've preserved these medicines for millenia. Let's ensure reciprocity is indigenous-led and truly impactful. What could the concept similar to Tequio look like in Western society? What if our leaders were only able to advance if they were giving back to collective societal benefits. #Psychedelics #IndigenousWisdom #community #Reciprocity #Earthstewards #CommunityService

From Conscious Business to Conscious Giving Back It is naturally in the field of Conscious Business that I meet experienced business women and men who, after successfully building up one or more companies, are launching a next project, a project with a content that is particularly close to their hearts. A project for the common good. A project with which they want to give back to nature, to the community,... A higher-purposeful project like this may be first initiated by a single person's call to giving back – however it may be designed so that many more people can get involved and increase the impact of the cause. Many hearts getting touched, excited, wanting to support. Today I would like to introduce you to a project that too can touch us all and, in a broader sense, does concern us all. Panambi, an initiative by Silvia Hagen and the Panambi Association, was created to preserve and reforest rainforest in Paraguay, to provide a protected space for species and variety diversity, to foster cooperation between cultures, ... You can find many more sensible arguments and heartwarming benefits for the project on the website www.panambi.org Silvia impresses me with her great clarity and sensitivity, which a project and the people in it need so that “it flows well”. (Solving seemingly unsolvable IT network problems used to be her specialty). Even within first steps and results of the Panambi projects' this clarity and heart-opening quality is palpable. There are often flashes of the magic that nature unfolds when you walk with it, learn from it and appreciate it. If you would like to hear more about the project and meet Silvia in person, you are very welcome to join one of these Zoom calls · On Monday, August 12th at 5:30 pm cet · On Tuesday, August 13th at 8 pm cet Just send me a private note, that you would like to attend, so I can send you the Zoom link on time. Greetings with pleasant anticipation Meike Let’s Butterfly [email protected] #consciousgivingback #consciousbusiness #reforestation

https://lnkd.in/diYNE2Rv Title: Questioning the Authenticity of Community-Led Initiatives Summary: This LinkedIn post raises important questions about the authenticity of community-led initiatives and their implementation methods. Despite being labeled as community projects, they often adopt conventional approaches that undermine creative and effective community-led solutions. This prompts us to reconsider the definition of community-led initiatives, the appropriate funding sources, and the key stakeholders involved. Content: 🔍 Questioning the Authenticity of Community-Led Initiatives 🔎 Community-led initiatives have gained considerable attention as a means to address social challenges. However, it is crucial to critically examine the genuineness of these projects and the approaches used in their implementation. While marketed as community-driven, many initiatives still adhere to traditional methods that have historically hindered creative community-led solutions. Let’s delve deeper into this issue. 🤔 What is a Community-Led Initiative? Community-led initiatives aim to empower local communities and give them a sense of ownership over decision-making processes. The goal is to foster sustainable development and provide access to quality services. However, the practical implementation of these initiatives often falls short of their intended objectives. 💰 Who Should Fund It? Identifying the appropriate funding sources for community-led initiatives is a vital consideration. The question arises: Should these projects continue to rely solely on external funding, or should there be a shift towards empowering communities to generate their own resources? Striking a balance between external support and community self-sustainability is crucial for long-term success. 🤝 Who Should Be Involved? The involvement of stakeholders plays a pivotal role in the success of community-led initiatives. While external organizations and institutions often provide expertise and resources, it is essential to ensure that the voice and agency of the local community are not overshadowed. Genuine community engagement, active participation, and shared decision-making are key to effective implementation. ⚠️ Case Study: Colonial Legacy and Community-Led Initiatives Looking back at the colonial era, we find historical examples of community-led initiatives initiated by the Rhodesian government to improve service access. However, these projects ultimately failed to achieve their objectives due to the continued influence and control exerted by external forces. The case of CLM serves as a reminder that simply labeling a project as community-led does not guarantee genuine empowerment. 💡 Conclusion As we evaluate the impact and effectiveness of community-led initiatives, it is essential to question the authenticity of their implementation methods. #CommunityLedInitiatives #SustainableDevelopment #EmpoweringCommunities

Embracing creativity for positive impact! At Fairtrasa Peru, we believe in the power of creativity to impact lives. The recent social project undertaken by Cooperativa Apaga, using efficiently the Fairtrade premium and our collaborative efforts as a company, is a testament to this belief. Together, we're fostering the artistic spirit of 44 children from the Algarrobal primary school via creative workshops. However, this initiative is not just about drawing and painting; it's about unlocking the boundless creativity within each child and nurturing talent. With a dedicated teacher guiding them, our young artists explore colors, shapes, and strokes, creating a vibrant canvas of imagination, using inspirations as cubism and Van Gogh. When asked about the project, Ramon Alcedo Jiménez, Director Fairtrasa Peru, said that "In the strokes of a paintbrush, we see the future. Through creativity, we empower young minds to express, learn, and value their unique Peruvian culture. Art becomes a language, uniting hearts and shaping a brighter tomorrow." Let's paint a future filled with possibilities together! #Fairtrasa #changemakers #impact #sustainableagriculture

In my first week here in Kaleyra I have already had the opportunity to discover that here words match actions. Read more in the post below about this beautiful initiative conceived by Pietro Calogero. #ESG #AMSAalltogether #sustainability
Here at Kaleyra, we strive every day to match words with deeds. Taking care of the environment near our Milan office is just one small way to do so. Today, we helped make Piazza Durante a little cleaner. Thanks to our friends at Azienda Milanese Servizi Ambientali - Gruppo A2A we were able to do it safely and efficiently! "The square cleanup is just one example of our ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and supporting our local community. When everyone does a small part, we can make a big impact and create a cleaner and more welcoming community." - Pietro Calogero, CSR Manager at Kaleyra #AMSA #AMSAalltogether

🌳 What are we doing in terms of sustainability at our subsidiaries around the world? Through a joint initiative, WIKA Brazil employees planted 60 saplings with the support of the city council of Iperó. 💚 This wonderful statement from one of the participant encapsulate the spirit of this special day: "Residents of Iperó planted trees in the past, in strategic places and I benefited from this act, this is another reason why I participated in the tree planting. This is a way of being grateful for what has passed, taking advantage of the present to send a message to the people of the future: Preserve and take care of the nature that belongs to all of us!" ♻️ What else does WIKA do in terms of sustainability?
