I spent 8 years as the associate head WBB coach at Duke and… Here are 3 things to continue to work on as you prepare to play, and have NIL opportunities on and off the court! Continue to work on your Skills: By the time you get to college - be as skilled as possible - work on them during practice and in your games - can’t stress enough that you have to be even more prepared mentally and physically by the time you get to campus Build a Strong Online Presence: Create a professional and engaging online presence. Share your basketball journey, achievements, and dedication to the sport. Put yourself in a position for NIL - don’t wait for your school to do it - they have so many SA to just focus on you Leverage Your Network: Build your network NOW - go on social media and interact with your fans. Traditionally, it marked the beginning of a player's collegiate journey usually celebrated with family and press conferences. However, the landscape has shifted with the rise of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations. Now, recruits not only choose schools for athletic programs but also consider potential endorsement opportunities. The NIL era has empowered student-athletes to monetize their personal brand, forcing universities must adapt their recruiting pitches to include off-field opportunities. Let the spring sports begin! As an athletic trainer, you have to be ready for the extreme heat and the extreme cold. With the spring sports beginning in the previous weeks, we are now having to travel outside for sports like lacrosse, soccer, track, and baseball. Last week, I attended my internship for the first boys lacrosse home game against Mountain Crest... to say the least, I froze while we were helping the athletes. I learned that as an athletic trainer, you have to be on top of not only what sports are going on and what the weather is like. Most sports like lacrosse and soccer will only stop their games if there is lightning. Why? Because when the athletes are running around, they are at a very high risk of getting electrocuted in a storm. So, it is a part of an athletic trainers duty to notify referees and coaches to stop play when there is lightning nearby. Join us tonight with Joe Girardi as he breaks down the benefits of Post Grad Edge. The most sensible move after High School for many players across the US. About 40% of DI Commitments are ready to play at the next level as typically 15 players out of a 40-man roster contribute to a Division I Program. For DII, DIII, NAIA with rosters up to 60 players only 1/3 of those players are contributing to their program. Junior College is a great route but due to the overload of players, and the portal issues there are Junior College programs with more talent than many DII, DIII, NAIA programs and the same numbers apply. EVERY PARENT needs to join this call to better understand options. My 5th child who is 13 years old will be committing to Post Grad Edge. A rising 8th grader should be thinking about the best path for development on and off the field and need to understand why Post Grad Edge is the answer.
