We're proud that our 2023 delivery, The Standard at Seattle, was awarded Best Use of Green & Sustainable Construction/Development at the 2024 Student Housing Business Innovator Awards. This two-tower, 26-story, 1,545-bed residential development achieved its LEED Gold certification through an integrative design approach. The design team was able to accomplish this by reducing energy loads through careful selection of building assemblies, systems, and equipment. From the outset, the project team prioritized sustainability and energy efficiency, making critical decisions large and small to deliver a high-rise tower that meets ambitious goals, promotes energy stewardship, and demonstrates consciousness of our changing climate.

Green Star Projects | Building a Sustainable Future Achieving a Green Star 5-star rating is a significant milestone for construction projects, and we are proud of the strides we're making with our clients towards this goal. At the heart of our efforts is our vision of doing no harm to the communities we build in. We recently sat down with Tayla Fairthorne, our ESG Manager, to discuss some of the challenges in achieving a Green Star rating and how we're working to overcome them. One key strategy has been the implementation of a central tracking system for Green Star requirements, helping our teams monitor the credits they are working towards. Tayla has also initiated Green Star Working Groups, bringing together team members to foster open discussions and share lessons learned across different projects. This collaborative approach ensures that we continue to innovate and improve our practices. Watch the video to learn more about the key credits we are working towards and how we are collaborating with our clients to improve sustainability outcomes our projects. #architecture #Engineering #constructionlife #TheKapitolWay #building #ConstructionIndustry #constructionsite #KapitolGroup #civilengineering #projectmanagement #constructionwork #Melbourne #Construction #constructioncompany #ConstructionManagement #constructionequipment

Hanna Hallin and the Pursuit of Building a Green Legacy In the midst of an era marked by rapid urbanization and environmental unpredictability, the conversations around sustainable construction have never been more pressing. At the 2023 Global Sustainability Conference, a standout voice will be Hanna Hallin, the Head of Sustainability at SGDS Gruppen AB. Her session, scheduled for October 18 between 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm US ET, seeks to illuminate the path towards a greener construction future with a mission - to make the world a better home. Hanna's background with SGDS Gruppen AB, a leader in the realm of sustainable construction, offers her a unique vantage point. She understands that it's no longer enough to simply build. The question now is, how do we build responsibly? How do we balance the immediate requirements of urban landscapes with the long-term obligations we owe to our planet? Her session, titled "Building a Greener Future: Enabling Sustainable Construction to Make the World a Better Home," aims to answer these questions and more. Hanna will delve into innovative solutions and best practices in sustainable construction, emphasizing the imperative of thinking long-term. For her, a building isn't just a structure; it's a lasting testament to humanity's commitment to coexisting harmoniously with nature. Key to Hanna's narrative is the idea that sustainability isn't just a buzzword; it's an ethos. From materials sourced responsibly to energy-efficient design principles, every aspect of construction comes under her scrutiny. Attendees can expect to gain insights into the role of technology in promoting green construction, the economics of sustainable building, and the strategies to integrate environmental stewardship at every stage of the construction lifecycle. However, what truly sets Hanna apart is her vision for the future. In her world, buildings are more than just physical entities. They are symbols of hope, resilience, and a promise — a promise that every subsequent generation will inherit a world that's a little better, a little greener. For those in the construction sector, urban planners, environmentalists, and policymakers, Hanna's session is a beacon. It's a call to rethink, reimagine, and rebuild with an eye on the future. After all, in her words, building sustainably isn't just about creating structures; it's about crafting legacies. #sustainability #sustainable #sustainablefinance #sustainableecosystem #environment #climate #climatechange #climatestrategy #planet #sustainabilityprofessional #sustainablebusiness #sustainabledevelopment #sustainabilityinitiatives #sustainabilityevent #sustainabilityefforts
