This is a great reminder too that you should be revisiting your content marketing plan often and adjusting to meet the needs of your audience. Content marketing isn’t just a set it and forget it kind of a thing.
Hot take: You don’t need *more* content. You need better content. Colleges and universities don’t need more student testimonials — the ratings economy is so ten years ago. What you need is to make the testimonials you have *do something* for your institution. We can’t assume prospective students are going to do what we want them to; we need to lead them to take an action. This is what I don’t hear much about in #HigherEdMarketing. Yes, content is important, but only when it does something measurable for your institution. Most #HigherEd institutions don’t have the luxury of slowly building a brand case, but so many act like it. 💬 Quotes do next to nothing for you if they don’t lead to an action. 🗞️ News stories work against you if they don’t link to relevant content. 💸 Paid ad campaigns are a waste of money if your website doesn’t have thoughtful user journeys that lead to action. 💔 Meaningful connection doesn’t happen through blanket storytelling. 💥 Community and affinity can’t be accurately measured through engagement! It’s okay to be critical of what you’ve been doing. In fact, it’s better to figure it out on your own.
