💡 Employee Spotlight 💡 It is our great pleasure to introduce you to Rack Store’s very own Warehouse Manager, Jose Belman. Jose began his career in the material handling industry as a pallet rack installation laborer for our sister company, Conveyor & Storage Solutions, Inc. Over the last seven years, his positive attitude, dedication, and commitment to continuous improvement set in motion his journey to the integral leadership role he plays for our team today. We asked Jose to share a bit of insight with the LinkedIn community below. #warehousesolutions #warehouseoperations #leadershipmindset #teamappreciation #palletracking #materialhandlingsolutions What are three of the most important career lessons you’ve learned? 1. Working in an environment of strict deadlines taught me how to be self-disciplined. 2. Dealing with difficult situations and setbacks instilled in me the courage to overcome any situation. 3. Success always comes after failure. If your first few attempts are a fail, then you will continue to gain the knowledge to correct the mistakes you have made until you are successful. What’s the best advice you can give to someone who just started their career in warehouse material handling? It is important to monitor your material handling performance on an ongoing basis so that you can identify areas where improvements can be made. Always look to learn new and better ways of doing different tasks in a safe manner. Efficiency is key in a warehouse environment. What’s been most memorable about your time with C&SS/Rack Store family thus far? What’s been most memorable about my time with C&SS and Rack Store family is seeing myself grow from being an installation laborer, a lead, to my management position. Working up the ladder has helped me grow as a person and worker who is always seeking to contribute more.

Ever wondered what a Warehouse Manager does? Sharon Martin reveals all. She looks after our Cumbernauld warehouse in Scotland which is 63,000 sq ft and holds 9,000 pallets. Tell us about an average day... "My day nearly always starts with reviewing systems and emails. But from that point onwards there is no knowing what I'll get involved in! It all depends on what happens in the warehouse and the urgency of whatever happens. But some of my regular tasks include inspecting the warehouse for potential risks, checking stock, and processing orders and invoices." What skills do you need for this job? "Being organised is key - you have to juggle a lot of tasks and liaise with lots of different people. You need to thrive on variety as well - one minute I could be speaking to a customer about their stock requirements, the next I could be arranging an MHE repair, and the next I might be involved in a BRCGS audit!" Why is Gregory Group right for you? "Gregory is always moving forward and I love this fast pace. I also enjoy learning so having access to all the training at Gregory Group means I am constantly developing my skills. This combined with the variety of my job means I am always able to keep achieving and that's a very rewarding feeling." #ADayintheLife #OurPeople #WarehouseManager #warehousing #logistics #DeliveringWinners

I've been a warehouse manager for about 7-8 years. My main job is to arrange things in the warehouse in a really organized way. It might sound easy, but when there are like 100-150 boxes in front of you, it can be pretty scary. You need to know which stuff should go in the back and which should be up front. Some boxes might have liquids, so you have to be really careful. Being at the warehouse and paying full attention is a must, especially with boxes that have liquids. After sorting out the boxes, keeping track of what's there and what's used up is also really important. And of course, making sure the warehouse is safe is a big deal. We follow safety rules and make sure everything is stored properly. This keeps the people working there and the stuff in good shape. To sum it up, my job is more than just putting boxes in place. It's about knowing where everything goes, being careful with delicate things, keeping good records, and making sure the warehouse is a safe place to work. Even though it can be overwhelming with lots of boxes, good planning, experience, and focusing on getting things right keeps the warehouse running smoothly.

As a warehouse associate, managing the physical demands of the job can be a major challenge. Lifting heavy items and standing for long periods can take its toll, especially during peak seasons when the workload increases significantly. Accuracy and speed are also critical when picking and packing orders. Staying organized and keeping track of inventory can be challenging, but safety standards must always be met to prevent accidents and injuries. #WarehouseChallenges #Logistics #SupplyChain
