Coming up for air after a couple of amazing weeks (personally and professionally), but still on such a high after the epic week that was the 2024 Cannes Lions. I’m forever inspired by the humans in our industry, and grateful to call so many of them friends and customers.

💥 Looking forward to an epic later .
📺 I’ve really enjoyed this tournament, watched most games & it’s reminded me a lot about what you need to do for your team to succeed :
⚽️ There is no ‘one size fits all ‘ in modern teamwork , where research ( knowing todays opponents & field of play ) adaptability, dynamic problem solving & communication is key .
⚽️ Having the right skillset in the right role to get the best from them & if this isn’t possible, taking remedial action to support those ‘out of position’
⚽️ The team has ‘starters & finishers’ - the people who come on through the game, can change the dynamic & inject motivation, energy & opportunity for the wider team
⚽️ It’s not how you start that matters, it’s how you finish. Teams who win get better as the competition goes on .
⚽️ A mix of experience & young talent delivers huge benefits
🥅 And as for the manager, Gareth Southgate, who’s been living this Steve Jobs quote :
‘ If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader, sell Ice Cream ‘
Thanks & good luck tonight 😉

I'm grateful to be the Director of Heroes Linked and produce short videos like these and connect with extraordinary folks like Medal of Honor recipient, Florent Groberg.
In a world that still foolishly quantifies likes, comments and shares, it's reassuring knowing that some folks will choose to act, even at the cost of their own well-being or life, under the most challenging, dangerous, demanding and difficult circumstances for no other reason than to do what's right.
Thank you Flo, thank you for being everything you are, and making our world better.
RED Friday... Remember Everyone Deployed Friday... Well today I wanted to talk about something that a buddy did that kicked me "right in the feels". Please watch the below video by a great hero, father, and friend...
Why is this RED? Because when we say "Remember Everyone Deployed" we do mean, those that are currently in service, who are in harms way. Those who are deployed to protect our way of life, represent our ideals and our nation. But, it isn't "JUST" that...
For everyone who has deployed, the second part is coming home. The impact to the family, to the individual is real. So many of us who spent time deployed over the last 20+ years... many have moved onto something new. A new deployment of that experienced and capable Veteran. But the do not do it alone... none of us do.
So this RED Friday, consider finding someone who is on that "redeployment" either recent, or still working on it from years ago... put your arms around them and help. Mentoring is such a rewarding experience, you are giving some very small part of who you are, to someone else with no expectation of return. It lifts your soul... and along the way, you make some amazing friends like I did.
Florent Groberg, love you like a brother man, you know that you and your family are an extension of me and my family. I am proud of all that you have done, and excited to see all that is in front of you still to do. Like I always strived to do, you have also impacted so many in their journey. Never stop...
We, brothers and sisters of service... we serve mission, country, God, our families, and each other. Remember Everyone Deployed... Today, yesterday, and tomorrow.

🚀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘆!
For the past 24 hours, I had the chance to participate in our annual #EY Innovation Journey Trainer Day for the second time.
I can tell you, it has been a blast interacting with all these wonderful and creative people again.
🔎𝗪𝗵𝘆?
Because #innovation is a topic that's near and dear to our hearts: fostering an innovation-driven culture is essential to our daily work. 💡💼
In the dynamic landscape of business today, innovation isn't just a buzzword – it's the key to unlocking unprecedented growth and staying ahead of the curve!
At EY, we recognize that innovation isn't confined to the R&D department; it must permeate every facet of our work. 🌐📈
Why is driving an innovation culture essential for us? 🤔
🌟 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲
Innovation isn't just about new gadgets; it's about fresh perspectives. Embracing new ideas allows us to craft creative solutions that set our clients apart from the competition.
🌟 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁-𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀
In a world of constant change, cookie-cutter solutions fall short. Nurturing an innovation mindset empowers us to tailor our strategies to meet the unique needs of each client.
🌟 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴
The only constant is change, and by fostering a culture of innovation, we equip ourselves to tackle emerging challenges head-on, adapting and evolving as industries shift.
🌟 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘁:
Top-tier talent seeks environments where their creativity is nurtured. An innovation-focused consultancy not only attracts but retains the best minds in the business.
So, how do we cultivate this culture of innovation? 🌱
✅ 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
Cross-functional teams bring diverse viewpoints, fueling ideation and sparking innovative solutions.
✅ 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗸-𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴:
Encouraging calculated risks fosters a safe space for experimentation and breakthrough thinking.
✅ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴:
Staying curious and up-to-date with emerging trends keeps our minds sharp and ideas flowing.
✅ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻:
Celebrating innovative wins, no matter the scale, reinforces the value of thinking outside the box.
We're committed to driving innovation from the ground up, empowering every co-worker to be a trailblazer in their field.
Therefore, we continue evolving our innovation journey to harness the power of innovation, redefine our work, and shape a brighter future for our clients and ourselves. 💪🌍

Sometimes, what got you there won't get you where you want to go. Good advice in business, and good advice in going for it on 4th down.
So, now the teams are set and I've picked my team for the Big Game.
Here's some more good advice: Send in your nomination for this week's Nice Guy/Gal Awards.
Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals).
If you want to nominate someone, just shoot me a private message by 5:00 EDT this Thursday.
There are only 3 requirements:
1) you have to be connected to the person you nominate
2) you can only nominate one person per week
3) you can’t nominate yourself 😀
If you want to provide a brief reason for your selection, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement.
Let’s recognize people who make a difference simply by being nice.
Have a great day, everyone.

I have known Chris, virtually that is, for about 5 years now. He and I disagree and agree on a lot of things--that is ok. This post is on target. I have had many conversations over the past month about certifications and veterans, especially the darn PMP. I will continue to dispel this myth that veterans have to get certifications to be a viable candidate in the workforce. This is the farthest from the truth.
Experience solving challenges is what gets you hired in the workforce.
How many of you are on the left side of this picture. Chasing each and every cert like a gold badge from Pokemon? How many of you are on the right side?
Employers have a real problem in the civilian world right now and that is a workforce that for the most part does not have the skills needed to be successful in the future. Skills like--Analytics, programming, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Process improvement, Technology design, Business Process Reengineering, Cyber, etc. Focus on getting experience and education in those skills and you make yourself marketable.
If I could get up in front of veterans today I would tell them the heck with the PMP, PHR, etc etc. Take a course in Business Analytics. Most colleges offer a year long course in it, it is covered by GI Bill and will make you marketable.
Always willing to chat with anyone on this topic.
