I fell down the personalized nutrition and fxmed rabbit hole ~15 years ago... ✨️I remember talking to colleagues way back when about detoxification and being told that was junk science. ✨️I was at medical conference in 2016 and was basically laughed at for mentioning the microbiome in a conversation about antibiotic stewardship and its implicationsin chronic disease epidemic. ✨️I've had heated debates about SIBO, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and glyphosate reactivity with colleagues who insisted they didn't exist. ✨️I'll never forget the absolute AWKWARD silence I was met with when I once stated my case for reversing diabetes and autoimmune remission through lifestyle and diet at medical meeting. The good news is, the science in this field is evolving at an incredible pace... And the intrest in fxmed and nutrition is catching up. During these past 15 years I've been in this space, we've seen some of these concepts become practically mainstream: ✔️ The impact of the microbiome on disease and health risk ✔️ Lifestyle medicine has a proven risk reduction of 80% and 90% for CVD and diabetes respectively* ✔️ SIBO and dysbiosis are well-established contributors to IBS and the mind-gut connection is generally well-known ✔️ Heavy metal, PCBs, glyphosate and other toxicant exposures have been linked to neurological, metabolic, and immune disease We still have some ways to go, but it's kinda incredible to see the forward momentum of this evidence-informed movement 🙌🏽 👉🏽 What do you think had been the biggest mainstream "aha" that used to be misunderstood or underestimated? Let's keep the conversation going in the comment's below 👇🏽! I'll leave these here 😉: PMID: 34584224 https://lnkd.in/ebxsJURh PMID: 31315227 https://lnkd.in/e-duw7B9 PMID: 28274108 https://lnkd.in/e7CsXpc7 *PMID: 30800027 https://lnkd.in/eWC73wJq PMID: 33281521 https://lnkd.in/eXRhBmDv PMID: 35389853 https://lnkd.in/eNbFSgFu PMID: 35215417 https://lnkd.in/epmQucPV PMID: 36911452 https://lnkd.in/eTHAZTiJ PMID: 36430748 https://lnkd.in/eTTAVB2e #lifestylemedicine #personalizednutrition #functionalmedicine

  • What interesting or possibly "fringe" research or concepts have you seen emerge recently as "cutting-edge" and even accepted into practice by the more mainstream medicine?

Clients may know the “what to do” but need the “how” to achieve their health goals.

I can honestly say advocates like you were the trailblazers that made me feel now was the time to make personalized nutrition my focus. I also love the emerging science of nutrition and our genome as well as the deeper dive into our plant world and the science of micronutrients. I can’t wait to see where we are in 10 years. I pray the medical community continues to embrace this avenue to healing and the expertise of those who have carried nutrition to the frontline intervention.
