Talent Leader - Recruiting Strategist - 🌶️ #NeuroSpicy | 🐶 #WoofWednesday

As a solopreneur…comparing plans during open enrollment. I just got to say: The access to affordable #healthcare in this country is an atrocity. There are exactly 0 plans available that will cover all my prescriptions, my therapist I’ve been seeing for 6+ years, and the ability to continue seeing my spine specialist for my chronic back issues. The lowest plan that covers 80% of my prescriptions (with a 50% copay), but not my specialist. Will cost me nearly $6k in annual premiums, and has a $9000 deductible. Factor in the fact that my “out of pocket” max is not inclusive of my out-of-network needs. We live in a country where health isn’t a basic right, it’s a privilege. And that’s my f’ing soapbox I am yelling from of the day. Living the #AmericanDream.

Erin Riska - please link the post about costs of international health insurance. Because it was jaw dropping.

Might extend my delayed honeymoon to accommodate the #medicaltourism I need.

FOR REAL. If I couldn't be on my husband's insurance, I honestly don't think I could do this solopreneurship life. It's so absurd.

Liking this seems like a weird reaction, but I am liking you bringing this conversation to light. Its really a shame.

Currently paying over $400 per month & haven’t even began to look at the plan costs for next year. It’s insane!

My HDHP that is subsidized through my employer, for medical, dental, and vision, will cost me $11k per year. That’s for a family of 5, and I am WELL aware of my privilege in being able to choose that and still afford our bills. But it galls me that I’ll pay that much just to have the privilege of paying more out of pocket to see doctors. I did the math a few years ago, when people were complaining that it would be a 4-6% increase in taxes to cover universal healthcare…and what I was paying on private employer subsidized insurance was 11% of my income. How do we make this better?

Thank you for bringing this out to the masses that follow you as the costs you noted are absolutely on par with what I pay for with my employer's Group Plan. I will also face this dilemma in less than a year as I'll retire from my current employer and transition my small scale edibles side gig into my full time job and I have no interest in creating Generational Wealth as I want to establish Generational Health for all that have helped me thus far. I too fall into that newly coined phrase of Middle Class Poverty where I am dependent of my employer to provide a salary that allows me to live paycheck to paycheck in a never ending cycle. Providing Generational Health for all that helped me will at least give them hope to one day actually retire and not need to work until they die.

I always said if healthcare wasn’t tied to employment, so many more people would work for themselves. Such an annoying relationship honestly.
