May we introduce: Niklas Krull, who joined us in September to train as an industrial clerk. He is one of a total of 29 apprentices at our German sites. We asked him about his first impressions. 𝐍𝐢𝐤𝐥𝐚𝐬, 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬, 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐤𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐩 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞? Niklas: The first weeks I was able to get to know the processes in our company and I am currently in the Account Management department for stainless steel and aluminum. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭? Niklas: What I find exciting about the business area is that we receive large quantities of material every day, process it and deliver it to our customers in the shortest possible time - not just in Germany, but worldwide. What I find particularly interesting about my department is that we also have a lot of contact with customers internationally, which means that new tasks always arise. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩? Niklas: Unfortunately, I can't name a specific challenge at the moment, but I think I will face many new things and challenges during my apprenticeship that I will have to overcome. However, learning another foreign language (such as Spanish) could be an exciting challenge. In a few short weeks I was able to understand basic concepts of Freight Forwarding which I could not grasp as quickly in other industries Unfortunately my internship came to an end and after Graduation I continued to believe other workplaces would be like a Freight Forwarding office but they were not, they were slow paced, lacked team work, took forever to make solutions and did not excite me as Freight Forwarding once did. My Choice to remain in Freight Forwarding has been one of the best in my life.
