Just wrapped up an inspiring 50th anniversary celebration of the International Women's Forum in New York ! 🌟 Three amazing days with over 1000 leaders from 30 countries gathered around one powerful theme: 50 Years of Women Changing the World! I am returning home energized and deeply inspired. Highlights included: - Women Changing the World of Technology: Linnéa Kornehed Falck, founder and deputy CEO of Einride and Deborah Buresh Jackson, CEO of Plum Alley, illuminated the challenges women face in tech funding, with less than 2% of investments going to female-led businesses. - Gen AI & Gender: Lan Guan, Chief AI Officer at Accenture highlighted the crucial role women play in enhancing AI models and preventing bias. As AI still struggles with empathy and critical thinking, there is a unique opportunity for human beings to thrive in these fields! - Women Changing the World of Work through Corporate Governance: Insights from Carla Harris, Pat Russo, Maggie Wilderotter, and Dr. Dambisa Moyo showcased how diversity in boardrooms combats groupthink and drives better decision-making. - Women Changing Society: A powerful session with Gretchen Carlson on combating workplace misconduct, showcasing her impressive advocacy. - Women Changing Politics: An energizing breakout session with Senator Kirsten Gillibrand on the impact of women in politics. Plus, panels on health, media, fashion, and more! The event also honored Sheila Johnson and Anna Wintour, who reminded us that women's rights can still be at risk even in developed democracies. With election time in the US, vigilance and readiness are essential to counter potential setbacks. As part of the French cohort, I was truly moved to see our sister Anilore Banon Banon honored as one of the “Women Who Make a Difference,” alongside seven other incredible women from around the globe. Bravo Anilore! 👏 Not to mention the opening reception at the The Museum of Modern Art, the “Behind the Scenes” visits, the “Dine-arounds” at our NY sisters’ places, and the Gala reception. So many occasions to share, bond, dance, and have fun with talented women from all over the world. A huge thank you to International Women's Forum New York and the organizing committee for creating a truly magical event! 🌍 Another inspiring day at ChangeNOW! 🌱 Today, I had the privilege of participating in the Board Member Program, where I immersed myself with a panel of board members from global leading companies. Together, we delved into discussions on promoting sustainability at the board level, exchanging invaluable thoughts and tips. The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the two remarkable panel discussions moderated by the super inspired Isabelle Grosmaitre, CEO of Goodness & Co, and a dear fellow member of IWF. Isabelle's passion for sustainability and her insightful moderation truly elevated the conversations, sparking new ideas and fostering collaborative thinking among the participants. As a non-executive board director, several key takeaways resonated deeply with me: - Be both a dreamer and a doer: Embracing innovation and envisioning bold solutions is crucial, but equally important is the willingness to take action and drive meaningful change. - If you are not ready to embrace transformation, step aside: The pace of change required demands adaptability, agility and courage. If you cannot do it, others will. - Fostering diversity among the board of directors: Diversity in all its forms - including geography, industry experience, functional expertise, and gender representation - is not just a buzzword; it's a strategic imperative for robust governance. Embracing diverse perspectives leads to more informed decision-making and ultimately drives better outcomes for organizations. ChangeNOW has once again reinforced the importance of collaborative action and collective commitment to building a sustainable future.
