About One (1)-year ago (May 22nd 2023),
I obtained my Certificate of Completion of the #Nexford Business Foundation Courses, with studies on:
Culture in a Global Business Environment, Global Marketing Practices, Applied Economics and Statistics, International Legal Environment of Business.
This Certificate was pivotal to moving me ahead into Core MBA Courses at #Nexford_University.
I had to keep it on my shelf until am done with all my Core studies.
This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. – (Psalm 118:23). Thank you Lord God for this WIN !!!
Also, I must say that the 2nd Principle from the book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Steven R. Covey was instrumental in moving me towards my goal.
“Begin with the End in Mind” …..by defining a clear vision of my desired outcomes in life to building personal and professional effectiveness.
If you are in the business of acquiring more customers, growing revenue, seeking how to improve on your business productivity and moving that career to the next level….It is never too late.
Now is time to start applying the Principle of “Sharpening the Saw”
So I put it to you;
- Create a personal mission statement that reflects your values and goals
- Visualize your end goals and work backwards to create a path to achieve them
- Put First Things First – Focus on Quadrant II activities
- Sharpen the Saw
- Attract success to your door steps.
- Never give up….

We are growing! The Baker School of Business online MBA Program is starting the 2023-2024 year with 311 students, which is 21 students (7%) higher than last year’s 290, which in turn reflected an 18% increase over the year before that. Our five-year average before last year’s “outlier” is 235, so we are currently up 32% over past average operating levels. We have also made a significant change to the entry experience of the program. The initial GBUS general business courses have been updated to focus more on executive decision-making and understanding the business environment. This change will serve students well in a world of growing complexity. #BusinessAtTheCitadel
I graduated from the full-time MBA program at INSEAD exactly 2 months ago. Since then, I've had some time to process my experience. I can honestly say that it was one of the most important and consequential years of my life. Today, I reflect on 3 things that my INSEAD experience has taught me.
1. I now "know what I don't know". Ok, let me explain this one. An MBA teaches people how to be general managers. With a 10-month program, there is a lot of material to cover to prepare us for this. Before coming to business school, I had never even SEEN a balance sheet, let alone know how to read one. Over 10 months I've learned about financial and managerial accounting, micro and macro economics, finance, operations, and the list goes on. At times I felt like I wasn't fully grasping the material, and that I hadn't truly "mastered" what I was learning. What INSEAD did teach me, however, is how to ask the right questions. There will be a lifetime of learning ahead of us and I've armed myself with the right kinds of questions to make well-informed and sound business decisions. In other words, I "know what I don't know", but now I know what questions to ask.
2. I've learned what motivates me. At INSEAD, all courses during our first 4 months are completed via project work with a set group of fellow classmates. I was lucky to have an excellent group. Not only did I learn a great deal from my group mates, but I also learned a lot about myself, my strengths, and my weaknesses. Completing a high volume of assignments under a tight timeline is stressful, however you learn how to work efficiently with the resources you have. Throughout the first 4 months our group met periodically to discuss what was going well and what wasn't going well in our group dynamics. Each of these sessions motivated me to improve what I felt were my weaknesses, and further contribute my strengths. I want to thank Amara Uyanna Dhatrpriya N LakhaneeMaximilian Klocke and Robert Liono for always having the decency and compassion to motivate me to become a better professional.
3. Know yourself and be kind to yourself. At INSEAD, there are endless events to attend, and there will always be more things to do, than you have time for. This means you need to learn how to prioritize and manage your time. INSEAD students want to make the most of their time in school. This means your schedule is non-stop. Not only are you incredibly busy getting to know your classmates and learning as much as you can, but you are also trying to find a job. The BEST job. A seemingly career-defining move that will "make or break" you professionally. INSEAD taught me that the best thing you can do is to be patient and kind with yourself. This may be the most valuable skill that I've learned at INSEAD.
I know that I will always look back at this year fondly. To the many friends that I've met, it has been such a privilege getting to know you, and may this be the first of many great years to come. Cheers!
