From Energy Security to Nature Restoration! 🌻🌱🌏🇩🇰 Earlier this year, the WindEurope conference took place in Bilbao, Spain, spotlighting crucial topics such as energy security, employment, community, economic growth and investment, and nature. Below are five examples of initiatives and projects from Danish wind solution providers that emphasize these five areas: 1. Energy Security: Building a Stable and Independent European Energy System Increasing wind energy capacity is vital for a stable and independent European energy system. Political actions are underway to expand renewable energy across Europe, aiming for a 45% share by 2030.🧡 2. Employment: Adapting the World’s Largest Base Port for Offshore Wind Activities Transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy requires a workforce shift. The Port of Esbjerg in Denmark exemplifies this transition. Once a fishing harbour and later an oil and gas hub, it is now the world's largest base port for offshore wind activities, hosting over 200 companies and 10,000 employees involved in the entire wind value chain.🌱 3. Communities: Co-ownership and Community Support in the Wind Industry Co-ownership is crucial for local green transitions. Sdr. Bork Windpark on the Danish west coast demonstrates how local commitment and collaboration can lead to successful projects, with many shareholders coming from the local community.⚡ 4. Growth and Investments: Green Energy Requires Green Financing Financing the green transition is a significant challenge. Green investments are essential for reducing emissions, enhancing energy security, and achieving renewable energy targets. This week, we are attending the Green Energy Export Day 2023 🚀🌱 As we face geopolitical shifts and environmental challenges, the urgency of transitioning to green energy solutions has never been clearer. Danish companies are taking the lead, showcasing innovative approaches that resonate worldwide. Green Energy Export Day 2023 unites a global community focused on a healthier, more sustainable planet. While Denmark's reputation as a green energy pioneer takes the spotlight, we are eager to spotlight the potential within the Italian market. Energy is pivotal to progress in all EU countries, making this discussion incredibly relevant. Despite their apparent differences between Denmark and Italy, long-term energy and industrial policies should be driven by rather similar objectives. It has been a fantastic few days in Rotterdam attending the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition. I was proud to represent CQUniversity on the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade),Trade and Investment Queensland and Gladstone Regional Council delegations. Gladstone is often referred to as the “hydrogen capital of Australia” and these few days have cemented Australia’s position as the “hydrogen capital of the world”. Australia was well represented across the Summit with a professional and compelling presence, underscored by panels, roundtables and other meetings. The Australian coffee stand and daily networking drinks were a huge hit too. Thanks to everyone involved in “Team Australia”. The Australian Government 2024-25 Budget announcements on Future Made of Australia, Renewable Energy Superpower were well timed to make the world sit up and take notice. Australia has rolled up its sleeves and is serious about realising its massive potential. This week has made me reflect on the last 12 years, since I was Senior Adviser in the office of the Minister for Climate Change, Energy Efficiency, Industry and Innovation. It has been a bumpy ride since our Clean Energy Future package but the current scale of investment and ambition, together with the integration of energy and industry policy is unparalleled. It is worth noting that two key legacies from that time, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) are at the forefront of this latest drive. Lots of work to be done but we now have the alignment and investment to succeed. Let’s go! Very excited about the upcoming 32nd session of the Committee on Sustainable Energy (Sustainable Energy Week 2023) - organized by UNECE Sustainable Energy | United Nations Economic Commission for Europe - between 11-15 of September, in #Geneva. On September 14th - building on the great support from Dario Liguti, Iva Brkic, Igor L., and colleagues - the GEEE and the Digitalization in Energy Task Force are organizing a dedicated session -> "Systemic efficiencies and digitalization in energy". 1️⃣ The first panel - moderated by Stefan M.
