Successful leaders understand that while strategy is important, the people who execute the strategy ultimately determine its success or failure. As a result, great leaders focus on empowering the right people with the skills, knowledge, and passion necessary to achieve the organization's goals. This involves identifying and developing talent, creating a culture of trust and collaboration, providing resources and support, and continually investing in the growth and development of employees. By prioritizing people over strategy, these leaders can build high-performing teams capable of adapting to changing circumstances and achieving sustainable success. Effective leaders recognize that while having a solid strategy is crucial, the true success of any initiative lies in the hands of the people executing it. Therefore, exceptional leaders focus on empowering their team members by equipping them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm to meet the organization's objectives. This process includes identifying and nurturing talent, fostering an environment of trust and teamwork, providing the necessary resources and support, and consistently investing in employee growth and development. By emphasizing the importance of people over strategy, these leaders cultivate high-performing teams that can adapt to evolving situations and achieve long-term success.

Perhaps the retail industry should be looking for ways to foster environments where successful leaders are supported, and protected, and less on drowning leaders in unnecessary, unworkable back stock/inventory, or subjecting them to burnout and then firing them for “not meeting standards”

Empowering, boosting and listening to your team will bring the needed feedback to allow fine-tuning, adaptation and improvement of the strategy. Even sometimes totally rethinking it from scratch. This agility given by empowering people and being open-minded to there input is more crucial than ever in our fast-paced world. True success doesn't come from one person but from the entire team. Each person and each role being crucial. Only a happy, empowered, motivated, trained, thriving, respected and valued team can bring it
