While I think it’s great that Manitoba IEC is supporting rural development though activities such as today’s job fair. (and if you are interested in moving to rural Manitoba go check it out!) I also hope to see them in the future focus on areas that are indirectly related to rural job success and development. In order for people to successfully stay in rural we need: · More supports for rural businesses that hire newcomers. · More affordable housing (and housing in general in the rural areas). · More supports for adults to get their driver’s license in rural (this is huge!). · More educational options for adults (literacy is a big one!) As someone who has lived and worked in rural Manitoba most of my life I understand the challenges.
