As I walk my dog, I trek past the same houses every morning. It’s not uncommon for me to see lawn and landscape service companies at work. It’s so ordinary, that I can’t remember taking time to stop and watch the work of any of these companies being done. My lack of attention to their work is due partially because it’s a pretty routine sight. However, it is also because after being in Florida for 20 years, I am used to seeing most Florida lawn service teams attack people’s yards like a swat team on a mission. They jump out and work so quickly to get the job done. It’s not really about quality. It’s more about check the box, it’s done, now let’s get the hell out of here. However, on Saturday morning, I couldn’t help but notice a team member of a company I passed. He wasn’t going like hell, he was meticulously cutting shrubs. I paused to see the way he was working with concentration, pride and precision. It made me look around at the work he had done, and notice that the yard all around him looked amazing. It made an impression on me. I continued watching him work with excellence for about 15 seconds more before I seemed like a stalker and needed to move on. But before I walked away, I felt the urge to take this picture of their company truck. I didn’t think much about it. However last night, as I saw the photo in my weekend shots — I was struck by how odd that was for me to do. I don’t make it a habit of taking pictures of trucks, or staring at people. But the work ethic and commitment of one individual stopped me and made me want to learn more about this company. In fact, I not only wanted to know who the company was, but the photo is evidence that I wanted to MAKE SURE that I wouldn’t forget them. That is the impact and influence that one team member can have. The landscaper wasn’t selling me, his effort and commitment was inspiring me. It was awesome. If you have team members who create exceptional experiences through pride, dedication, and commitment—make sure that you value, understand and embrace the impact that they make. They are the ones who possess the ability to to make something ordinary feel extraordinary. #EveryoneIsAnInfluencer

I try to post something each day that is inspiring. The officer and a man's dog named Ruby save the man after he fell through to the water on a icy lake. Fascinating to watch, the dog should get a medal for being a Good Dog. #culture #future #digitalmarketing #humanresources #marketing

We love this piece, highlighting our incredible client Social Animals Barbershop, and their innovative approach to such an established industry! ".. Social Animals Barbershop works to a unique, subscription-based model centred around high-quality haircuts and products at affordable monthly costs, ultimately creating a tribe of like-minded people from all walks of life. The business is the brainchild of founder and barber, Adam Bowling, who is also a musician, and a former senior executive of a nationwide cleaning company. We are building something that you can be a part of. People want to be a part of something. Just like your favourite bar, you go there because you love it. They might have the same beer as other places, but you still go there. Social Animals offers three tiers of subscription; Gorilla Tier – two cuts per month, with five per cent off in-store products and updates about events and products; Tiger Tier – three cuts per month, one beard trim, 10 per cent off in-store products and updates about events and products; and finally, Dragon Tier – four cuts per month, two beard trims, 15 per cent off in-store products and VIP invites to events. The business was launched in late June, and for Mr Bowling and his team, it has been foot to floor ever since." #recurringrevenue #aglow #membership #beautyindustry #subscriptioneconomy https://lnkd.in/ghx9Jp7f

From bicycling advocacy group WABA Biking for transportation has a few inherent indignities: helmet hair, that wet stripe up your back from an unexpected puddle, the occasional smear of chain grease on your leg. But the Business Geniuses™️ in the Giant grocery stores corporate office have added a new one to the list: they won't let you shop with your panniers or backpack. This is actively hostile to anyone who doesn't grocery shop by car—you know, like most people who live in a city. Like locking up the deodorant and multivitamins, the policy is in response to an supposed uptick in retail theft that is simply not borne out by data.1 To me, it sounds like a short-sighted C-suite attempt at shareholder appeasement, but the failures of late-stage capitalism are outside the purview of this newsletter. Whatever flawed reasoning underpins it, it's not just bad policy because it's frustrating for people who bike. It's bad policy because it's absolutely saturated with opportunities for racially-biased enforcement and harassment. If you regularly shop by bike at Giant, make sure you've got a backup plan, or just shop somewhere else. You can also drop them a sternly-worded note, or ask your elected officials to weigh in against the policy.

I know, I know, humility is a virtue and all of that, but in the spirit of girl power and taking up space I want to shout it from the rooftops: THE BOSTON DOG BOSS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM IS LIVE! This has been in the works for a while. My best friend Amber Bruski, and I launched the Boston Dog Moms community a year and a half ago after dreaming about an amazing, hybrid space where local dog moms could come together to make friends, share recommendations and resources, and help one another’s dogs live the best lives ever. Not long after the group got going, we started getting requests from pet professionals hoping to promote their business in the group. So we started a waitlist. I know, everyone says whenever you launch that it’s too late, and that you should fail hard and fast, but it is SO important to me and Amber that our quickly growing girl gang of local dog moms always knows that they are our focus, that we want to serve them so they can be the best dog moms they could be—SO we waited and took time to steward the group into the most incredible, positive and helpful culture--and now there is almost 4.5K people in that community. AND IT WAS REALLY IMPORTANT THAT IF WE WERE GOING TO LAUNCH A BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP, IT WOULD TRULY PROVIDE INCREDIBLE VALUE TO ITS MEMBERS. And that’s why when people become a Boston Dog Boss, they are getting top-notch training on how to truly leverage organic posting to grow their business, they are getting GORGEOUS images that they can use to show off how professional the brand really is, they are getting an amazing community that they can serve in the Dog Moms group, (Not to mention the chances to build their own opportunities through all of our networking and events!) And building all that didn’t happen overnight. It came with late nights, and early mornings, and working an hour before heading off to the train to my day job, where I would work ON THE TRAIN for another hour there and another hour back. Amber did ENDLESS photo sessions and editing for no reimbursement—and she executed absolutely beautifully. It came from all of our combined years of diverse expertise written out and rewritten and organized. It came with endless hours of brainstorm sessions and building feedback loops and fighting with each other for the best that we could offer. AND NOW IT’S HERE. So, if you’ve ever launched anything, I see you and all the f***ing hard work you put into it, and I’m hugging you and high fiving you and waving the biggest, loudest pom pom poms for you. Can I ask you one last favor? Could you send your favorite New England dog business owners my way? I think they’ll wanna hear about how they can connect with the extremely engaged group of women that is their exact target audience in Boston Dog Moms. Thank you for all your support! Love, Andi

Entreprenuers don't give up. It takes a lot of grit to make something out of nothing. Of course, It is good to have a solid business plan in place as you build your foundation just be sure to leave a little flex space when things do not go exactly as planned. Have the determination to push through and take action. Yet also be patient!
