Our Cash in on Kindness monthly guest collection initiative presented $4,625.32 to Leelanau Children's Center to provide center-based care for preschoolers, with an emphasis on early relationships, early experiences, child-initiated play-based learning, and community partnerships. Leelanau Children’s Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides high-quality, early childhood educational programs and advocates for children, parents, and families. From its inception in 1976 as a playgroup, LCC has grown to participate in Michigan’s Great Start to Quality program and is among the top 3% of preschools in the state rated as “Demonstrating the Highest Level of Quality”. Thank you to our generous March players who donated their change for a change for the better in our community!

The way to lead with actions not just words.
Austin Bank's allegiance to the communities it serves continues to manifest itself through contributions in direct support of local education, the arts, literacy, health and housing needs as well as countless hours of volunteer service given by Austin Bank employees. B.E. Blessed is a non-profit organization in the Conroe area with the mission of providing school supplies, hygiene kits, and other essentials to low-income students throughout their community. Baily (pictured center) was 6 years old when she realized that not all of her classmates had their own crayons. This inspired her to create B.E. Blessed to provide underprivileged students with the supplies they need to succeed. Since the organization made it's first donation in 2006, they've raised over $230,000 and provided school supplies to over 2,900 students. We are proud to support Baily and B.E. Blessed in their mission to improve the educational outcomes of students throughout the Conroe community and beyond. #WithYouForGood #BEBlessed #ConroeTX

From all of us at Tuesday's Child hope you had a great holiday weekend with loved ones. Please help us reach our goal for Giving Tuesday. This Tuesday we are to raising money on Giving Tuesday that will help lower income families with financial assistance to access all of our programs. If you are not able to donate maybe there is a friend, relative or coworker that you know that might. Sharing Tuesday's Child donation link on any of your social media's would greatly help us to bring the awareness and mission of Tuesday's Child to families that might need our assistance. https://lnkd.in/gbD_FtPP Here is a testimonial form the Williams Family- Kenny had challenges in school. He was aggressive with other children when he didn’t get his way. His teachers didn’t understand what was going on. He was attending an excellent school, but sometimes even the best schools need assistance. It was very helpful to be in the Tuesday’s Child parent sessions and good to know other parents had the same frustrations and difficulties. To know we weren’t alone. His behavior has improved both at school and at home. As parents, we’ve become more understanding and compassionate. Tuesday’s Child was there for us. They helped us communicate. He’s able to use his words instead of his hands, to express his feelings instead of lashing out and throwing a tantrum #givingtuesday #charity #donate #tuesdayschild #kids #preschool #parents #teacher #care #chicago #kids #nonprofit #autism #ptsd #nonverbal

I was delighted to be invited by Teresa Jennings to talk at the launch of the Brathay Bursary last night alongside Garryck Spurgeon-Price, my friend and fellow ALP graduate. We shared our own experience of Brathay residential’s and the impact it’s had on our lives but also reflected on the importance of these experiences for young people. I’d like to share some of those reflections here… 🍃Young people today are facing extraordinary pressures. From education and employment challenges, to the impact of the cost of living crisis on their personal and family lives, and constant exposure to an evolving technological world. Outdoor residential’s provide a break away from everyday pressures or distractions, allowing young people dedicated time to focus on freedom, expression, and exploration. 🍃Spending time outdoors is proven to have both mental and physical benefits. We cannot underestimate the impact of building these connections from an early age. Ultimately this understanding comes from experience, and residential’s help children to form the habit of enjoying time outdoors. 🍃Young people are drawn to seeking risk. This is part of the natural stages of development a child moves through as they grow. Unfortunately there is a lack of space and opportunity for young people to fulfil this need which can lead them into unhealthy or unsafe behaviours. Outdoor residential’s provide the perfect alternative by facilitating healthy risk taking in a safe environment. 🍃The challenges and activities that form an outdoor residential allow young people to see their skills outside of external recognition. They are encouraged to reflect on team tasks and how they and others achieved their goal. This is not about ‘who reached the summit first’. It is focused on who spotted an upcoming difficulty, who helped navigate the solution, who communicated this to the group, who helped the team stay motivated, or who supported others? Recognising contributions and skills beyond traditional academic areas is both inspiring and important for building self-esteem and confidence in all young people. The Brathay bursary will ensure more young people benefit from these life changing experiences, regardless of location, background, or financial circumstances. Please consider supporting the Brathay bursary by donating or sharing with others, it really does make a difference - https://lnkd.in/efahgVDU
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our Brathay Bursary! 🙌 It was officially launched last night at the Palace of Westminster by MPs Simon Fell and Tim Farron. Access to new experiences in outdoors is vital for young people's mental health and personal growth. However, the cost-of-living continues to impact families and schools being able to afford this necessity. The Brathay Bursary will ensure transformative school residential experiences are accessible to all. Our new initiative aims to support 5,000 more young people in the next 5 years to experience a life-changing residential. Play your part in changing a young person's life... we are now accepting your kind donations: https://lnkd.in/eAkax65k

Tandem (Tandem, Partners in Early Learning, a fantastic organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area) works to give kids a great start to learning, focusing on children ages 0-5 (the sooner you can start learning, the better your life’s outcomes). Apparently, MacKenzie Scott endorses Tandem’s approach and execution: Scott’s philanthropic organization just granted $2 million to Tandem, a whopping grant. If you believe in children, if you believe in education, I encourage you to support Tandem with your money, or your time, or your re-posting of Savitha’s announcement below. Or, find an organization near you that focuses on children and figure out how to support them. Even one hour a year is helpful. Seriously. Go try it. (Way to go, Tandem!)
Tandem, Partners in Early Learning is extremely excited to share that we’ve received a $2 million gift from the Yield Giving Open Call! The #YieldGivingOpenCall – managed by Lever for Change – focused on elevating organizations working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States. Tandem does just that by building a society of supportive children's development by partnering with families and educators to co-create interactive learning experiences paired with books reflective of diverse cultures. This gift is a testament to our partnerships with families, educators, and community organizations, and would not be possible without your support. Information Security Professional | Turning Hacks into Insights, Strengthening Cyber Resilience, and Staying Ahead of the Game.
As back to school season is in full effect, many parents are busy preparing themselves and their children for the new school year. Educators are also busy preparing for the upcoming school year and some school districts will be fortunate enough to receive financial resources that help them equip its classrooms for new & returning students while others may struggle to make do with outdated resources for their classrooms. It comes as no surprise that Oklahoma ranks poorly amongst other states in the country in education ranking 44th overall in 2024. The Every Student Succeeds Act was signed in 2015 to address advancing equity to disadvantaged & high-need students, however, many school districts continue to miss out on opportunities to better serve its students due to political sentiments that fail to prioritize the next generation of leaders and thinkers. This year I decided to join some of my friends at Generation Why to help gather & distribute school supplies to some of the Oklahoma City Public Schools who were not as fortunate to receive state or federal funding to help provide its students the necessary resources they need for the upcoming school year. Last year #GNWY managed to raise over $12k to help students at F.D. Moon Middle School for the 2023-2024 school year. This year their goal is to raise $10k for more #OKCPS schools and also host another #FillTheBus drive to accept any donations from local businesses & organizations to help steer this mission. If you or your organization is interested in participating, feel free to reach out to my dear friend Jordan at #GNWY to help them acheive their goal for the upcoming school year. Any donations can be distributed to #GNWY before or on August 4th at their #FillTheBus event or online via their website. See details below. Date/Time: 8/4/24 05:00p Location: 100 N McCormick Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73127 Fill The Bus Donations: https://lnkd.in/gJuikpUd Visit GNWY: https://lnkd.in/gsXz5p2c

"Some of us can afford to support some part of the vast network of charities that of one our former presidents called 'a thousand points of light.' Those points of light are best seen, like stars at dusk, against a darkening sky." - Timothy Snyder, On Tyranny Being on LinkedIn, we are the ones who "can afford" even a small gift to benefit our most vulnerable neighbors. One of those thousand points of light is HumanKind, a non-profit serving the state of Virginia that believes community well-being starts with a solid foundation for EVERYONE. As you think about your year-end giving, please consider even just a $35 gift to support our First Night Backpack program for children transitioning into Foster Care. When kids are removed from a home, they often only have a few moments to throw a few things into a trash bag. They arrive to a new home with possibly not a single personal item. Take a moment to really let that sink in. Your gift would help a kid to transition into safety during such a tumultuous and confusing time. Being able to have a few essentials and the ability to carry them in an overnight bag, allows them a sense of ownership and dignity that they may not otherwise have during this time of instability. Your gift will also be DOUBLED due to a matching sponsor if you give by 12/31! Double your impact FOR A CHILD today. https://lnkd.in/e4eCHTh3
