The WBAI and BottlesUp! are partnering up for a book club and wine tasting event. Join the WBAI Book Club to discuss Lady Justice: Women, the Law, and the Battle to Save America by Dahlia Lithwick. As part of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we continue our annual highlight of HLAI members who have made great impacts in our legal community, the Latino community and our beloved organization.  Today we recognize Leilani A. Pino. Thank you for your work and service to the community, your contributions to HLAI and continued commitment to our values. #hispanicheritagemonth Leilani Ana-Maria Pino is a skilled trial attorney. Currently, Ms. Pino is the General Counsel at the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. She is a former Assistant State’s Attorney at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Municipal Litigation Division. Prior to joining the CCSAO, Ms. Pino was a Managing Attorney at Trunkett & Trunkett, P.C. where she successfully represented corporate clients and financial institutions in consumer and commercial disputes in both state and federal courts. While in law school, Ms. Pino was the Advance Directive Editor for the Annals of Health Law Journal and a Junior Editor for the Children’s Legal Rights Journal. She was a law clerk at the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, the Illinois State Appellate Defender’s Office, and the Cook County Public Defender’s Office. After law school, she handled criminal defense cases in a private firm. Ms. Pino is very active in the legal community. She recently served as the Judicial Evaluations Chair for the HLAI and we are incredibly proud of her work on behalf of our organization. She also serves on both the Government Committee and the Diversity Committee of the Illinois State Bar Association, and on the Dean’s Diversity Council for Loyola.
