The PEDIGREE Foundation funds nonprofit shelters and rescues in the United States with programs that support dog adoption. Program Development Grants of $10,000 to $15,000 are provided in the following categories: foster programs that move dogs temporarily into loving homes while they await adoption; behavior programs that help with socialization, training, and stress relief so dogs can move beyond behaviors that might hinder their adoption; and transport programs that move dogs from areas of overpopulation to areas where they’re more likely to be adopted. In addition, one DOGS RULE.™ Grant of $50,000 a year for two years will support an innovative best practice initiative that focuses on increasing dog adoptions rates. Today felt like the perfect time to jump back into LinkedIn. The last 10-12 months have been quite a journey both personally and professionally. This post isn't meant to relive the last year but to encourage everyone that when your life is turned upside down unexpectedly, it can lead to wonderful outcomes. I found through prayer, reflection, and unwavering support from friends and family, what was initially something extraordinarily difficult became a true blessing. Some will notice I have a "gap" in my work history now. About 4 months. 4 months to jettison a lot of baggage, get my mind and body back to neutral (thank you Brendan Ferns for recommending Getting to Neutral by Trevor Moawad), and to dream again. 4 months to reconnect with my wife and start to make decisions that are focused on me and my family first, not what a job might dictate or require. Call it a gap or a sabbatical or whatever you'd like; I knew in order to be the best for my family and for wherever I chose to go professionally, I had to reset. In October of 2023 I got to meet with some of the team at Grubb Ventures. I wasn't sure if I was ready to come off the sidelines yet. Was I mentally ready? Did I complete my "factory reset?" A few things were clear that were critical to me: 1. The leaders truly cared about the people there. It wasn't lip service or just some core value splattered on a wall. 2. They believed the company was ready to make smart, strategic changes in response to recent growth (I like leading through change believe or not). 3. Grubb cares about the community they live and work in. I joined Grubb as its CFO in November (I know I'm late posting about it). And today we sorted and packed eggs at the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC. We did it together. Just like we do each day at the office. I'm so thankful to the team at Grubb for choosing me. I'm grateful to everyone who supported me this last year, especially my wife and family. And while I know God doesn't ever have to reveal His plan for me, I'm blessed that He continues to orient my steps.

Of the growing number of Portland mayoral candidates, it seems only Keith Wilson has a detailed 1-year business plan for ending unsheltered homelessness. The others may verbalize everyone’s discontent with the tents, RVs, trash, graffiti and crime, but talking about the problems isn’t the same as writing down the steps to fixing them. And going above and beyond a written plan, Keith even created a working model to demonstrate its mechanism. And at $16/night/person under his program, versus $189/night under the current “Safe Rest Village” solution, we should all be wondering what’s causing the disparity. Every successful commercial real estate broker I know writes an annual business plan on what they will do for the year. The business of fixing unsheltered homelessness is no different from other businesses— you need an actual plan, or nothing will get accomplished. We need a results oriented mayor. 1,501. I've been waiting to make that announcement. That's what they did. 1,501 pairs of socks this semester to give to people experiencing homelessness in Denver, Colorado. These students began the semester with a historical research packet - which led to a deeper understanding the source of homelessness, the migrant situation, the economic/living situation in Venezuela, and sanctuary cities. They created digital shorts - both written and visual that can be utilized on X, IG, FB, TikTok. They created business-sized resource cards (in English and Spanish)with a QR code that links to a document where helping resources in Denver are located (this required an inordinate amount of research). They sold cookies in Union and had a pickle ball tournament to bring awareness and raise funds. They started a GoFund Me. They attended a community engagement day to share their learnings (and try to win more money to buy MORE socks). We had amazing conversations about policy and its impact on humans; most importantly how you can not agree with a policy AND STILL be empathetic, kind, and giving towards the humans impacted by policy. Today they had the opportunity to meet with Chris Christensen, a University of Northern Iowa alum who is a Homelessness Impacts Investigator for Denver Public Health and tell her they were able to purchase (and have donated) 1,501 pairs of socks. Her response? "I just can't believe it, like I really can't. I'm so impressed and I hope that you take this experience and this for other people that you will never meet, most likely, and just pay it forward. Show other communities this as you get older, show your kids this as they grow, bring this into your workplaces. Keep taking this love for others and just send it forward. Cause it's amazing. And it's what we have to do so I just wanna thank you guys and my team thanks you, too." So - thank you Marquette Millam, Holden McGraw, Tanner Onken, Averiana Ramker, Madeline Schobert for your dedication to this project and people you don't (and likely won't) know, that is a servant's heart at its best. LOCATION IS STILL TO BE DETERMINED for this Community Clean-Up (PHX) NO OPEN-TOED SHOES Cleaning up loose trash is one of the best ways to pitch in for your community and the environment. Volunteering as a means to help conserve and protect the environment has a lot of upsides. Of course, the first is that you’ll be taking care of our planet, and it badly needs a little love given the myriad ways in which we’ve become adept at destroying it. But beyond that, volunteering for a cause you care about is a great way to meet like-minded people, make friends, and pull yourself out of the blues that sometimes accompany caring a lot about something important – especially if you feel alone in your endeavors. None of us like the sight of litter. Litter spoils the look of where we live but that’s not the only reason for picking up litter. There are a number of benefits from picking up litter that you may not have considered before. Volunteer-led projects such as these are one of the quickest, simplest, and least expensive ways to inspire more community spirit and civic action. A visually appealing community increases property values, attracts businesses, and improves the neighborhood's image. Beauty is one of the three most influential factors in community attachment, which means loyalty, to your particular town or city. Some research even shows that a nice-looking neighborhood promotes good behavior. Join us in keeping your community clean! Costs are rising rising. Mobile Meals of Toledo has experienced a 25% increase in food costs,transportation, and, labor. Even with that we haven’t passed cost on. What does that mean? Do the math we are eating into our reserves. Also government, contract funding, and insurers increases support has only gone up from 0% to 6% in 3 years. Help us find a sustainable path forward
