I was suddenly hit with the realization that December has stealthily arrived, and here we are, already on its third day!
Zaki Kurdya and I had been fervently planning our #devfest here in the heart of the #Gaza Strip, slated for the 15th of December.
Excitement filled our days as we tirelessly submitted proposals, hoping for a sponsorship from local companies.
We believed our biggest hurdle was the absence of a sponsor – until tragedy struck.
In the wake of the aggression, all our painstaking efforts crumbled in front our eyes.
The dream of Gaza #devfest2023 now stands as a poignant testament to what could have been, a dream now shattered beyond repair.
As I write this, my heart aches for Zaki Kurdya's safety and well-being, fervently wishing that we can pick up the pieces and make this dream a reality next year, if we are fortunate enough to survive.
This is not just a setback; it's a heart-wrenching collision of aspirations with the harsh realities of our circumstances.
The vision of Gaza #devfest2023, once vivid and promising, now lingers in the air like a fragile whisper of what might have been.
It's a dream wrapped in the sorrow of unfulfilled potential, a tapestry of possibilities torn apart by forces beyond our control.
As I pen down these words, I'm acutely aware of the weight they carry. Each stroke of the keyboard echoes the resilience of a community that dared to dream despite the odds.
In the face of adversity, we find ourselves standing at the crossroads of despair and determination. The indomitable spirit that fueled our planning for #devfest now serves as a testament to our collective strength. It's a reminder that even in the darkest moments, when our dreams are shattered, the embers of hope still burn within us.
So, let this be a chapter, not the end of the story. As we navigate the uncertainties of today, let the dream of Gaza #devfest2023 be the seed from which resilience and determination grows.
May the next December bring not just survival but a triumphant return, a celebration of perseverance and the realization of dreams deferred but not forgotten.
Pray for us and remember us as people who were trying to do all that they can do to their community and to their people.
