The Fellowship for the Future of Journalism (part of The Nation Fund for Independent Journalism) does just that by recruiting high school students from historically underserved communities and paying them to learn the art of journalism. The fellowship’s immersive multi-year structure is designed to create college readiness, college persistence and career training.
