The leadership of our Indigenous land stewards is powerful and essential, to give us hope, to help us understand best practices for building resilience, and to help us see the intersectionality of our actions on the health and well-being of our communities. This week, I attended the Native Americans in Philanthropy conference and heard story after story of the immensely positive power of Indigenous leadership in tackling our greatest challenges. People spoke of their agency in taking culturally-centered approaches to emergency response, mental health, climate change, the housing crisis, and much much more. These approaches created real outcomes, despite being slandered or disregarded by non-Native power holders. The solutions were so intuitive, and beautifully aligned with the place-based needs of their communities. This is a great example of equity. Supporting people in the ways they need to be supported, in the ways they want to be supported, and seeing real outcomes, because people respond best to the communities that they trust. The extensive history our Native leaders have in building and sustaining meaningful, long-lasting relationships with one another and with the land is truly unmatched. We must lean-in to their leadership, and listen and respect the lived experiences they have with tackling the greatest challenges of our time. #NAPCON #NAPCON2024 #NativePhilanthropy #NativeLed #Native #NativeAmerican #Indigenous

Let's talk about Humanity 🌿🙏 Humanity encompasses the collective traits, behaviors, and values that define us as humans. Embracing humanity for community development involves fostering compassion, empathy, and inclusivity. It means recognizing the inherent worth and dignity of every individual and working together to address the needs of all members of society, regardless of differences. This can be achieved through promoting education, healthcare, social justice, and sustainable development initiatives that prioritize the well-being of people and the planet. #IlovecommunityDevelopmet❤️

Getting a LOT of hope and energy from this book on the early train from Manchester to Edinburgh for Service Design in Government (SDinGov). "What we're realizing together is that the ever-louder cries for freedom and justice are entangled. They're all part of he same revolution. Gender rights, Indigenous rights, ethnic rights, animal rights... they're all part of the same fundamental rethink about our relationship to each other and the planet. All life on earth is an ecosystem and it could be an ecosystem of generosity, a virtuos circle. If we improve things at any point we improve them at all points." "In order to survive and thrive, we must step into the Citizen Story. We must see ourselves as Citizens - people who actively shape the world around us, who cultivate meaningful connections to their community and institutions, who can imagine a different and better life, who take care and take responsibility, and who create opportunities for others to do the same. Crucially, our institutions must also see people as Citizens, and treat us as such. When they do, everything changes. If we can step into the Citizen Story, if we can transform our institutions, we will be able to fave our myriad challenges: climate, plagues, poverty, hunger. We will be able to build a future. We will be able to have a future. That is what is at stake here." Citizens. Why the key to everything is all of us. by Jon Alexander & Ariane Conrad 📖 A perfect #SDinGov pre-conference read 👏 #SocialChange #PublicSector #PublicService #ServiceDesign #SystemsThinking

Embrace diversity and connect with Indigenous communities effortlessly! We celebrate the diversity that First Nations communities bring to our society. Our approach to community engagement is built on the foundation of embracing differences, fostering inclusivity, and forging authentic connections. By collaborating hand in hand with Indigenous communities, we can collectively shape a society that not only cherishes its cultural diversity but also strives for equality, inclusivity, and sustainable progress for all. When community members are engaged, they tend to play a meaningful role in both; the decision-making process and the implementation of projects that affect them. In recognizing the needs and aspirations of all participants, community engagement promotes the idea that, through intentional interactions between organizations and communities, community members can and do influence policy making. It enables the community to achieve sustainable outcomes, equitable decision-making processes, and deepen relationships and trust between government / non-governmental organizations and communities. #CommunityEngagements #ArdentYouths #sustainablecommunities #SDG11 #Participatory #Communities #localcommunities #decisionmaking #Changes #SDGs #GlobalGoals
