Today is PTSD Awareness Day. Military personnel face unique traumatic experiences, including war zone deployments, training accidents, and military sexual trauma (MST), which can all lead to PTSD. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for PTSD, 29% of Operations Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Enduring Freedom (OEF) veterans experience PTSD at some point in their life. Research shows that among Veterans, those who deploy are more likely to develop #PTSD than those who do not. Due to the frequency and duration of deployments, combined with the intense experiences faced in combat, Special Operations Forces service members are at an even greater risk. 660,000 Approximately 7% of Veterans and up to 23% of post-9/11 service members are estimated to have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Specifically, 11 to 20 out of every 100 veterans who served in operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom have PTSD in a given year. Overall, about 660,000 American military personnel have developed PTSD. Remember, you are not alone. The transition from military to civilian life can be challenging for veterans, often leading to a loss of identity and community. This, coupled with trauma, can result in isolation and vulnerability. Extremist groups exploit this, targeting veterans with offers of false belonging and purpose. Understanding the history and tactics of these groups is crucial. Training & awareness, strengthened mental health support, & proactive efforts by the military to root out extremism in the ranks are key to combating this threat. Today is National PTSD Awareness Day. This is a day to remember so many that suffer in silence with the invisible wounds of trauma. Did you know that over 69% of Veterans who take their own lives are over the age of 60? This is a protracted battle we are facing to fight for the lives of our loved ones. Wild Warrior Adventure exists to restore hope in the hearts of our Warriors. We believe it is all of our responsibilities, to include you, to support and pray for our Nation's Warriors, their families, and their communities. This is not a mission we take lightly as we know that there will always be a need to share that there is hope, there is healing, there is a bright future that is abundantly available.
