Every talk I give on military bases is dedicated to the memory of my oldest brother. You see he was a Marine. Served in Vietnam. And saw many things he could never talk about when he came home from that war. But we knew. That every time there was lightning or thunder. And he would go hide underneath the bed. That the war was still inside of him. So tomorrow is the 4th of July. 🇺🇸 And we have a wonderful tradition of shooting off fireworks to celebrate. But for many…. It’s just a reminder of the war inside of them. So please remember that not everyone can tolerate the fireworks in the same way. Especially those who are battling PTSD. From that war still waging inside of them. #HonoringOurVetetans #PTSDMemories #FourthOfJuly #SensitivityMatters
Thank you for continuing to honor your brother. Right now, I am reading Deliberate Discomfort by Jason Van Camp, I have always had tremendous respect for our military but the stories here are so powerful and reminder of what our legendary service people face. 🙏
I think our military needs more Leslie!
Valuable post, Leslie. I recall a Vietnam vet saying when he returned he didn’t like walking past buildings with windows for fear they would shatter. We can’t know the experiences but can be thoughtful.
For years my Dad would freeze if he was surprised by a helicopter. It is amazing the impact PTSD can have without many realizing it. I can't imagine!
Thank you for your brother’s service Leslie Weirich 🙏 And thank you for the reminder
You amaze me everyday!!! 💗
Such an important, if not sad, reminder Leslie Weirich. Let's watch out for each other...especially those that are battling unseen foes right now. What a great tribute and honor to your brother you are.
God bless them all. ❤️
Keep Going Leslie! I’m 💯 sure your brother is with you as you serve our nation’s finest.

2moWe've become a nation of many focused on instant gratification and self - what's in it for me vs. how will this affect others? I appreciate this message greatly Leslie Weirich. Thank you. 🇺🇸
