In a historic win for environmental justice advocates across the state, Big Oil has reversed course and forfeited their deceitful ballot measure to repeal a California law (SB1137) that protects neighborhoods from toxic drilling. Thanks to the work by Campaign for a Safe & Healthy California (CSHC) and other statewide partners, the hard-fought victory will keep frontline communities, schools, and other public areas safe from toxic oil drilling throughout California. Congratulations!

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted today in favor of placing the “Affordable Housing, Homelessness Solution and Prevention Now Initiative,” now known as Measure A, on the November ballot. Crafted by experts and community leaders to address the urgency of housing affordability, renter protections, and mental health in Los Angeles County, the measure would raise $1.2 billion dollars through a half-cent sales tax to tackle root causes of LA’s housing crisis.
