As part of Energy Saving Week, we thought we'd share some frequently asked questions about our new campaign, Get Warm This Winter. What is the campaign? Ecogee’s Get Warm This Winter campaign is aiming to stamp out fuel poverty by encouraging eligible householders in the Liverpool City Region (LCR) to sign up for a new energy support grant so improvements can be made across 500 properties. What works will be added to my home? Retrofit works will include a range of energy-saving solutions, from the installation of solar photovoltaics panels (PV) to cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, external and internal and under floor insulation, as well as air source heat pumps, which will aim to reduce energy bills and carbon emissions. Who will be carrying out the works? A specialist retrofit team from Ecogee will be carrying out the works right from the start of the application, right through to the planning phase and construction works. Successful applicants may also receive communications from Ecogee and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Do I have to live in the local area to get the free works? The campaign and grant cover the entire Liverpool City Region and this includes Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens, and Wirral local authorities. CHI welcomes the new report from the Irish Green Building Council (IGBC), ‘Bridging the Gap Between: Energy Poverty and Energy Renovation’. One of the main recommendations from this research is for an increase in funding for energy renovation for social housing and AHBs.   Speaking about the report and CHI’s dedication to providing energy efficient homes, Director of Asset Management and Property Services, David McCourt CEng MIEI, said, “CHI is fully aware of the positive impact that high quality energy upgrades can have on fuel poverty as well as decarbonising the AHB and housing sector. We take this issue very seriously and have delivered 293 Deep Energy Retrofits since 2018 as part of our ‘Improving Warmth and Wellbeing’ Programme. These energy upgrades were delivered to our poorest energy performing homes and raised their BER to a minimum of B2 achieved with additional insulation, high efficiency windows and doors, and the installation of air-to-water Heat Pumps. Most recently, we delivered Deep Energy Retrofits to 52 apartments in Newcourt, Dublin. Good news for homeowners and #landlords in Mornington Peninsula Shire who are considering installing, replacing or upgrading #solarpanels over 5kW on their property from July. The Shire is considering a 20% rate discount for those properties. Including #rentalproperties could get the owners over the line to make the necessary investment. Community consultation is open until April 12. 📅 National Cut Your Energy Costs Day is all about being more mindful of the impact our energy spending has on the planet. But safeguarding the environment doesn’t mean you have to forego warmth! In Halle, we were involved in the renovation of 185 social houses to make them more energy efficient. Dear Costa del Sol homeowners: 🏘 It is in Claimbox's DNA to promote systems that improve the comfort of homeowners on the Costa, and that is what "E-gather" is all about.  💡 The Local Energy Communities, we believe that they are a pillar to alleviate the costs of maintaining a second home (or permanent), in an area already overloaded with expenses of community expenses , security, transport, etc. (where do the taxes go...?) and therefore, can and should be a solution to energy consumption bills, both private property and maintenance of gardens, common areas, sports areas, etc... The idea is that the housing estates in our urbanisations should be supplied with photovoltaic generation from small solar parks installed in the vicinity of these estates, through an association of the neighbours benefiting from them. In this area, it is much more coherent and practical than the individual installation of panels on facades, which are rarely suitable. 💚 We are currently in talks with the Costa del Sol Town Halls to try to establish cooperation and submit a proposal to the EU to obtain funds for urban initiatives for sustainability, as we believe that in the area it would be viable to reduce the general electricity consumption bill by 25%, including that consumed by the water supply and purification systems, which are very high.  We know that in other communities such as Navarra, 60 municipalities have already joined the "motor" that the Chambers of Commerce have launched to promote these communities. Let us hope that the Costa del Sol this time is not another "island", and can see that efficient systems are supported and applied from all angles. 🤞 Local Energy Communities are supported in all European, national and regional regulations within the EU.      Let's persevere...!
