Today I am thankful to our patients and colleagues for making this news possible ➡ robust clinical results in the 1st & 2nd cohorts of Sernova's Phase 1/2 T1D study with our cell pouch and ethically derived donor islet cells: 💥 5 of 6 patients in the first cohort of our Phase 1/2 study discontinued insulin therapy (they are insulin independent for between 6 months and 3.5+ years) following islet transplantation into the Cell Pouch and modest islet top-up via portal vein. 📉 All 6 patients achieved HbA1c values in the non-diabetic range (<6.5%). 🎯 In Cohort B, the first 6 of 7 planned patients have received the higher capacity 10-channel Cell Pouch and 5 patients have received a first islet transplant. 🥅 Stable fasting and stimulated serum C-peptide levels were observed following a single islet transplant into the 10-channel Cell Pouch in the first assessable Cohort B patient who subsequently achieved insulin independence with a modest portal vein top up. #T1D #CellTherapy #CellPouch #HbA1C #CPeptide #PatientCentricity #Biotechnology
