Is the cure worse than the problem? The phenomenon of short-term improvement leading to long-term dependency is so common in individuals and in nations. Smoking may start as a solution to the problem of low self-esteem or work-related stress. Gradually, the cure becomes worse than the disease (problem); among its other problems it makes self-esteem and stress even worse than they were to begin with. Poverty can be minimized by giving "donations" and bail out loans but it also increases the dependence of poor people on donations and make nations dependent on the borrowed money perpetually. In systems thinking it's called "shifting the burden to the intervenor". It was supposed to be a time for family visits, sharing of food and messages of peace and blessings, but instead this year in Gaza, both Easter and Ramadan has been a time of sadness, loneliness and lack. Abu Yusuf says his family and many others he knows have resorted to cooking the weeds that grow during the winter when the rains fall. They are all down to one meal a day, and often when there is nothing to make bread with, they will grind rabbit feed and use that as a flour. While aid trucks have been entering Gaza, not nearly the same amount of aid has been allowed in since the war started. Roughly about 500 aid trucks are needed daily to cover the basic needs of the people in Gaza, but since the war started the number of trucks topped 300 a day - the last time being during the week-long cease-fire. Some days as little as 10 trucks have made it in. Our partners in the region, Shepherd Society, are reaching out to those in their immediate communities with food packs containing essential items. Currently these temporary measures are all that they can do, and as long as the crisis continues this type of support is a lifeline of hope. 【Distribute Hot Meals in Gaza - Your Support Is Urgently Needed】 The conflicts in the #Gaza Strip have been ongoing for six months, and the death toll continues to rise. Over 13,000 children have lost their lives, with one-third of children under the age of two suffering from severe #malnutrition. Some mothers even have to bear stillbirth or infant mortality – the situation is worrying. Currently, through the collaboration with the local organisation, #PlanInternational has successfully provided 6,000 emergency food packages to the displaced people in Gaza. Despite the challenge, Plan International will continue partnering with the local organisation to provide assistance to the population affected by the conflicts. With no sign of a ceasefire in Gaza, the entire population has been living on an empty stomach and in fear. Families are being forced to eat grass and animal feed to survive. In a small village in Afghanistan, a young girl named Amina wakes up before dawn every day. Her mission is simple but vital: to fetch water for her family. The journey to the nearest water source is long and arduous, often taking hours under the scorching sun. The water she brings back is murky and unsafe, but it's all her family has. Amina dreams of going to school, but her responsibilities keep her away. The dirty water she gathers frequently makes her and her siblings ill. In Afghanistan, only 27% of the population has access to safely managed drinking water services, according to the World Bank. This means millions of people, like Amina, are left to drink contaminated water, leading to widespread disease and hardship. Despite these challenges, there is hope. The Farzana Foundation is working tirelessly to build wells and provide clean water to communities in need. Amina's village is one of the lucky ones. Recently, a new well was constructed, bringing fresh, clean water just a short walk away. For the first time, Amina and her family can drink without fear of illness. The impact is profound. Amina can now attend school regularly, and her family’s health has improved dramatically. Access to clean water has changed their lives. Yet, many more villages still wait for this basic necessity. In Afghanistan, the need is urgent. Every well built brings hope and health to another community, helping to break the cycle of poverty and illness. Period Poverty and making a difference: Period Poverty is a very real, sometimes devastating issue faced by menstruating individuals in our community. Menstruation products should not be luxury item. They are an essential and necessary piece to ensuring the health and participation of individuals in school and society. Period Poverty is defined as the inability of a person to afford menstruation products, causing them to resort to alternate means to manage their periods. Humanitarian response attempts face many challenges and obstacles, but despite all these challenges, grassroots and social initiatives such as emergency rooms, hospices, and charity kitchens - with the support of philanthropists and some organizations - continue to provide food aid to many citizens exposed to hunger and diseases resulting from malnutrition. In the (A Corridor Saves a Soul) campaign, we repeat the call to donors, organizations and interested parties for more support, and to the Sudanese government to open corridors and facilitate procedures for the passage of aid, and to all parties to the conflict to facilitate passage, so that we avoid the catastrophe of famine. #A passage that saves a soul
