Upon my completion of FairWays to Leadership golf program I got really excited about keep learning the sport and taking seriously it’s practice. ⛳️🏌️♀️ This week I traveled back home to Colombia ✈️🇨🇴, and trained on certain areas I wanted to improve. Although of course I still need to practice a lot and improve many other things, I realized beautiful things about this sport I didn’t thought as important as they really are: 1. Golf is mainly concentration, posture and movement. Be aware of every detail is key, and that’s what makes it even more interesting (specially in a society full of distractions) 2. It’s the only sport that is played in group but individual 3. It will never be all perfect; embrace the ups and downs and the different shots. It’s a good practice to learn resilience and be aware of our own reactions. 4. Learn to adapt quickly, every club hit different.

If you get chance I would definitely recommend this short film from the great minds at Titleist & Titleist Europe on the mind set of High Performance and the rise of Wyndham Clark to his first PGA Tour win. However, It’s a story that transcends golf, it’s a story that you hear about in every High Performance. Somehow you have to find that spark that lights the fuse, that belief that you never knew you had, that takes you to heights you never previously believed you could acheive. It’s the Hero’s Journey of overcoming adversity with the help of a mentor and going on to achieve your very best. There is a Hero’s Journey in all of us. All you have to do is look inside yourself and believe how good you really could be. There is only one of you, you are unique and exceptional. There is no better time then right now to find that spark, that lights the fuse to your own definition of High Performance. If to dare is to do, then I dare you to do it today. Go and create your own story, I can’t wait to hear it. You are creating your future in this moment, so choose a thought right now of something that you want, so you fill your future with that. F-E-A-R has two meanings: 'Forget Everything And Run' or 'Face Everything And Rise!' The choice is yours. - Zig Ziglar #Leadingthecharge ##KeepTurningup #LightTheFuse #HigherFasterFurther #HighPerformance

Learning to play golf has been such a humbling experience for me. I don't enjoy being a beginner golfer. I don't like not being good at things, ESPECIALLY in front of other people. It's a lot of mental back and forth for me. I can feel so proud of my performance at one hole... And be so embarrassed by my 500 missed swings on the next. I can hit the furthest ball on one swing... And land my ball in the woods on the next. Every hole, I go back and forth with myself, trying to simultaneously remember and implement every piece of advice I have received. Every hole, I tell myself to get out there and try again. Golf is teaching me persistence. Golf is teaching me humility. Golf is teaching me that the journey truly means more than the destination. I can choose to be my own worst critic or my biggest cheerleader. It's not always comfortable, but it's strengthening my resolve as a leader. I am learning to push myself beyond my comfort zone to show myself what I'm made of, providing a confidence boost helps me on and off the golf course. #learningnewthings #leadershipdevelopment #tiarasleadershipseries

Cricket legend Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj are gearing up to showcase their golfing prowess at the Kapil Dev - Grant Thornton Invitational 2023. Brace yourselves for a week of exceptional golfing excellence! My take on golf and leadership. Golf – a sport that combines the serenity of lush green grass blue skies with the frustration of a thousand wrong swings and missed putts. As I find myself committed to the pursuit of a decent swing, I can't help but wonder why on earth I'm putting myself through this rollercoaster of emotions on the golf course. Why does the c-suite play golf? I was advised by my coach/ mentor to continue with learning to play golf to better my leadership skills. Below as I still struggle are my top 3 leadership lessons from golf :) Lesson 1 : Patience & Perseverance On the surface, a golf swing seems like a straightforward motion – just hit the ball, right? Wrong. It's a delicate dance involving body contortions that would make a jalebi jealous. My attempts to mimic the fluidity of the pros often resembles nana Patekar’s moves. But at it, one day will make Saroj Khan proud. Lesson 2 : Emotional Intelligence Successes and failures on the course mirror the highs and lows of leadership. Golf teaches individuals to manage their emotions, stay focused, and remain composed Despite the countless frustrations and the bewildering complexity of golf, there's an undeniable allure that keeps me coming back for more. Is it the challenge, the camaraderie, or the fleeting moments of triumph that make it all worthwhile, like leadership. Lesson 3 : My golf champion mother instilled the principle of playing to one's strengths. Her advice? Focus on what you excel at—chipping and putting—rather than getting stressed with teeing off. This philosophy resonates beyond golf; as a leader, it's about embracing your uniqueness rather than imitating others. In the realm of leadership development, golf stands out as an unexpected yet powerful tool. Beyond the physical aspects of the sport, the mental and emotional challenges it presents contribute significantly to the growth of essential leadership skills. So, the next time you tee off, remember that you're not just playing a game – you're cultivating the skills that will drive your success to be a better leader. Rory Mcilroy has won 24 times on the PGA Tour! 😱 He’s one of the winningest players to ever hit a golf ball. And yet, here he is getting some pointers from putting guru Brad Faxon on the practice green after a round last week. He spent hours after his round hitting six foot putts until he figured out what wasn’t working in his game that day. You’d think after a lifetime of winning on the golf course Rory would be way better than to be practicing something as simple as short putts at the end of a long day of competitive golf. Wrong. This is what the great ones do: 1. Consistently and rigorously practice the simple but most important things. 2. Work with a mentor who can help guide the way. I was so inspired when I saw Rory practicing in this way last week. His dedication to winning shows in his work ethic and in his results. It caused me to ask myself (and I challenge you to do the same): 1. What are the simple things that I should be rigorously practicing each week? 2. Who are the mentors in my life that I should be leaning on more for help? Rory’s onto something here… ☺️ #rorymcilroy #practice #mentors
