Hydrangeas and Hope Last year my hydrangeas didn’t bloom. Was it the late cold, the soil, or were they cut too short? It was a mystery as to why they lay dormant, but I stayed hopeful that they’d return to their former glory of prior seasons. I even talked with them a bit. This year they are vibrant and beautiful. This is all true, but it’s also a metaphor. Don’t give up hope when things don’t bloom the way you wish. Try to figure out why, improve what’s in your control, but don’t give up. Sometimes it just takes time. The next season may be the very best. (I love where I work. I love what I do.) #Riveron #CMO #MarketingLove

Some of my favorite colors! I am “colorific,” and that keeps me cheerful and hopeful, even in dark times. And I have orchid plants that did the same thing. You can’t keep a good flower or a good woman down.😊💐🌈
Always remain hopeful and take time to smell the flowers !
thank you Linda for the motivation to return to Mary Oliver on a summer morning: The singular and cheerful life of any flower in anyone's garden or any still unowned field-- if there are any-- catches me by the heart, by its color
Mine suddenly burst out this year as well!! We got pink!!
Hell Yeah!
Love that, Linda - and your thoughtful analogies!

2wBeautiful! Wish we got those colors in Chicago - different soil, different colors. Sigh. Another thought to explain lack of blooms - sometimes many plants (some hydrangeas are among them) only bloom on "old wood" ... excessive pruning, done at the wrong time, cuts back on future beauty. Might have some applications beyond gardening. 😉
