After 10 wonderful years at BCG, I am starting a new adventure at Merlin Entertainments at the start of February. Merlin is a global entertainment brand and theme park / attractions operator based in London — with iconic brands like the London Eye, Madame Tussauds, Legoland, and Alton Towers. I am excited to join the executive team to grow the business, build our brands, and bring great experiences to many more guests around the world! It is also with a heavy heart that I say farewell to BCG, my home for the past 10 years. I am incredibly grateful for the friendships, the adventures, the learning, and extraordinary experiences I have had around the world. A big thank you for my teams, clients, mentors, and friends who have made it such a special time. Best wishes to everyone for a successful, productive, fun year ahead! And hope to (re-)connect soon at a theme park near you.
Congratulations, Linda Zou... Merlin Entertainments today announced the appointment of Linda Zou as Chief Strategy Officer, effective February 2024. Zou will report directly to CEO Scott O'Neil and will work closely with the rest of the Executive leadership team in designing and executing the company's strategic vision and driving the continued growth of Merlin’s strong brand portfolio... Zou joins Merlin from Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where she was a Managing Director & Partner in London. While at BCG, she led the development and execution of business strategy, commercial transformations, proposition design, and artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced analytics programmes for leading consumer companies in the UK, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Excited about our collaboration with #OpenAI and unlocking new possibilities with responsible generative AI!
I am excited to announce a close collaboration between BCG and OpenAI to help our clients solve the most complex challenges and unlock their full potential. Harnessing the power of AI and digital, including #generativeAI, is a top priority for BCG. Most CEOs I’ve spoken with in the last few months have asked me about generative AI. There is a mix of excitement and trepidation, a recognition that the pace and scale of AI transformation are reshaping entire industries. We launched #BCGX in December, turbocharging BCG’s deep industry and functional expertise by bringing together advanced tech knowledge and ambitious entrepreneurship to help organizations launch their next big bets and enable innovation at scale. BCG X is home for 3000 technologists, scientists, programmers, engineers, and human-centered designers. Applying generative AI technologies in a way that is aligned with our values is critical. Within BCG X we have established a Center for Responsible Generative AI with dedicated teams to support our clients in realizing the power of OpenAI technologies. Our work with generative AI and with #OpenAI will have a huge impact on business and society. This is exciting, and it comes with great responsibility. At BCG, we are at the forefront of #responsibleAI and were the first in our industry to launch an AI Code of Conduct – to drive transparency, create safeguards to protect data, and ensure our work is aligned with our values. We will drive solutions that optimize how companies leverage generative AI keeping with this commitment – ultimately building and sustaining society’s trust in AI.

Check out our latest perspective on the Future of Retail! #BCG #futureofretail #winningthetown #digitalecosystems #retail Historically, retailers have succeeded by winning through scale: expand stores and geographic reach to achieve greater economies of scale, lower operational costs, reduce COGS, which then allows retailers to invest back in price and the customer, which in turn funds growth through the opening of even more stores. But the retail industry is evolving quickly and companies must make several bold shifts to win with a new strategy: through growing customer lifetime value and data / geographic density. Learn about the new approach here.

In our latest research at BCG, we found that despite a focus on digital commerce, the majority of Chinese grocers have not designed a fully digitised end-to-end value chain — and therefore are not achieving fullest profitability potential. I have seen this in other geographies as well. The AI and tech has advanced quite a bit in the last few years. Now is the right time for retailers everywhere to think about building an end-to-end platform that maximizes the value of AI and digitisation across the full retail value chain — to fuel their core business and beyond.
