(ΝL) "When you learn two or more loosely related skills simultaneously, those skills cross-pollinate because the insights you gain learning one skill lead to breakthroughs in the other. For instance, understanding tempo and time signatures while drumming can help you grasp rhythmic patterns while playing the guitar. When you go between practicing one skill and another, you bring fresh perspectives to your practices. If you spend a day practicing pickleball and then go back to practicing tennis, your pickleball perspective can help you see tennis in a new way, which can generate insights and help you escape a learning plateau. Multi-learning similar skills will also help you understand the nuances of any one skill. If you go between learning German and Spanish, you can easily contrast the two languages and quickly spot the unique qualities of each language."

Doodling can help you to focus. By all means, give it a go. If you find that it helps you a LITTLE, but not enough for it to have really made a big difference, that's simply because that is the limit of how beneficial this technique is. Learning a new skill takes courage and persistence, not confidence. You'll likely fail before you get better. Your progress won't be linear. You'll say, 'I can't do this' a dozen times. That has been my beginner's journey with pickleball. While everyone says, 'It's so easy,’ I hit the ball too hard as if I was playing tennis. After trying for a while to improve on my own, I decided to get coached. I'll sign up for training this fall so I can become a better pickleball partner. If you are struggling to learn something after trying it on your own, it may be time to talk to someone. We are hesitant to ask for help, but as soon as we do, we learn that people are willing and happy to assist us. It takes courage to learn a skill, Persistence to get better, And someone’s help to move you forward. 🤗 What are you trying to learn or improve upon?
