Here's a novel idea for a feature for job sites (LinkedIn): Create the ability for job seekers to set a distance flag relative to their location, that requires recruiters to enter the zip code/city before contacting the perspective talent. If it's outside the perspective talent's range, automatically present a polite decline message. This would save both sides a lot of time.

I started compiling a spreadsheet to keep track of all job postings and track the progress - or lack there of. I have found so many duplicate postings, a month or two away from each other. These duplicate postings are either spam/scams or companies creating an applicant pool. Either way, I and all the other applicants do not need this to continue. We do not have energy to apply and apply and apply to the same companies and positions. LinkedIn, please help the candidates using your site as a job board. Vet these companies and job postings and ensure legitimate job openings. If not, your site risks losing credibility and therefore, popularity. It will become the next MySpace, irrelevant.

I have an allergic reaction to trash data. I do. It's why I still maintain my own spreadsheet for recruiting activity/percentages on pass through rates. It's why I question EVERYTHING and sanity check against the actual data / inputs to make sure it's as close to accurate as possible. It's why I don't give 2 sh!ts about bad data that's outside of my control. Applicant counts on 3rd party sites is exactly that - trash data. I know that LinkedIn recently changed their applicant count, and GOOD! Because it's wrong. More in this old video I forgot I made a while back. Oh but Amy how do you know....? Because I have access to the REAL data. I compared what LinkedIn said two of my roles have, and then what we ACTUALLY have. Those numbers are so far off it's laughable.
