Now that our beta version is stable, it's time for us to shift focus and get Defang in the hands of as many devs as possible. To this end, we've hired a proven community builder: Toki Hossain has created Vancouver.dev, which is now one of the best developer meetups in Vancouver! We've also partnered with Major League Hacking to have presence at tens of upcoming hackathons. Finally, we've kicking off an ad campaign to make sure more people hear about us, and we've created shards in our preview cluster and been doing stress-tests to ensure we can handle any incoming load. 🚀 I started reading The Mom Test Book, which came highly recommended by several great founders I've met these last weeks. Can't believe I hadn't heard of it before!

After doing a demo of Defang, I often get feedback like "This didn't already exist?" and it's exactly the feeling I had when we started this a year ago. Surely, a tool that takes a Docker Compose file, a file many *already have*, and deploys it to the cloud of your choice; surely somebody built that already? Seems not! Still, I regularly search the internet for a similar thing, looking how others tackle the challenges that I see in writing Infrastructure-as-Code. IaC provides "version control for infrastructure", but doesn't make it easier: you still need to be an expert. And it's still a physical description of your app: each single resources in the cloud is declared in code, it's 1:1 what the cloud provider expects. As Defang matures, the physical description of your app becomes more and more a *logical* description, which we then intelligently map onto the native functionality provided by the chosen cloud provider. Please give Defang a whirl! And let me know what you think of it. 🙏

Congrats again! It's cool to see a nice web application running on a laptop at the end of a hackathon, but it's extremely powerful to have that same app running in the cloud, on its own domain, behind SSL! Love it. 🤩
