There's a strong connection between mental health and financial well-being. 🧠 💰 67% of Gen Z workers identify money/finances as a top source of stress in their lives, and only 23% consider themselves good at managing their finances. Since April 2023, almost 8,600 students from 213 high schools in 16 states - 70% which are in low- to moderate-income communities - took Minding Your Money: Skills for Life, a course developed by Guardian Life in collaboration with EVERFI. The link between teacher stress and expulsion in early childhood is clear. To truly solve the issue of suspension an expulsion in early childhood, we need to look at it from a systems perspective. Teachers are often blamed for biased decision making, but this data indicates that teachers who are overworked or undersupported play a key role. This brings the blame off teachers alone, and into programs and districts. If we want to decrease expulsion, we need to fully support our teachers to do the incredible work that is required. This is how we help children thrive.
