𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸? ☀ 🏝 Like many of my Google colleagues, I've escaped the cold, blustery Irish weather and am taking advantage of "work from anywhere" opportunities from the sun. I'm grateful to Google for enabling me (and many others) to experience the perks of remote work. The pandemic normalized "𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲" and I love that many tech companies now offer employees extended periods of global flexibility. 🙏 Combining travel and work, especially long-haul, adds an extra layer of planning, but the rewards are immense. It's a privilege! Below, I dove into the science behind "work from anywhere," especially the perks of sunny locations. Providing employees with the necessary tools and resources to work remotely: This includes providing employees with laptops, monitors, and other equipment, as well as access to cloud-based software and collaboration tools. Offering flexible work arrangements: Employees at Google AI can choose to work full-time remotely, or they can work a hybrid schedule where they split their time between working remotely and working in the office. Encouraging employees to take breaks and time off: Google AI believes that it is important for employees to have a healthy work-life balance. Employees are encouraged to take breaks throughout the day and to take time off for vacation and personal days. Creating a supportive and inclusive work environment: Google AI is committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. The company offers a variety of resources and support groups for employees from underrepresented backgrounds.

Another one for the books! As we continue to see tech companies double down on #remotework it is only right to assume #RTO is DOA💀. Since Dropbox rolled out their approach to remote work, known as Virtual First, they have seen ~70% more effectiveness from their employees through more uninterrupted time to work, use of modified work schedules and being more strategic on coming together in-person for collaboration purposes. This comes after last year's closure of offices in New York, Chicago, and Washington, DC, when co-founder and CEO Jeremy Stoppelman declared Yelp's commitment to a "fully remote" workplace. 💻 Amid this transformation, Yelp's confidence in its employees' productivity shines through. Give employees what they value to attract and retain top talent Many big tech companies, including Google, reverted back to in-office work after the effects of the pandemic dwindled. Still, the return to work model gave tech brands some of the most competitive talent challenges in history. Engineers, developers, and employees at every level expressed their desire for work-life balance. This matters more to employees than in-office perks like “waterslides and Picassos,” as Houston noticed. Meta has joined the growing list of tech giants requiring employees to return to the office 🏢 three days per week, following in the footsteps of Google, Amazon, Salesforce, and Apple.
