When I finally reached the VP level in my partnerships career, I wasn’t elated – I was afraid. Throughout most of my career in partnerships, I always had a clear answer to the question of “what am I working towards next?” There was always a clear next goal in mind. But once I reached VP, I felt stuck. I didn’t see many examples of senior partnerships leaders beyond that title, so I felt like I’d hit a ceiling in my career growth. I had no idea what was next. A lot has changed in the past half-decade since I faced that dilemma. The opportunities to build a thriving, long-term career in partnerships have seemingly exploded. It’s becoming increasingly clear how ambitious, career-minded people can stay on a partnerships path until the day they retire. In fact, just like Chief Revenue Officer created a new aspirational position for sales. I believe that the future will bring a whole new slew of titles and opportunities for a generation of partnership leaders to ultimately become Chief Partnerships Officers and Chief Ecosystems Officers.

I've worked closely with C-suite leaders from day one of my career. There aren't many other career paths that offer that kind of insight. 𝟏𝟎𝟎% I feel like that’s what every extremely successful company has from a majority of their employees. But 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐛𝐮𝐲 𝐢𝐧? Truthfully… I don’t know. But I do know what got me to 𝐆𝐨 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐧 on RJ Young! 𝟏. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐟: I was not very successful at first, but Timothy Podskoc and Landon Hamby consistently believed in me and pushed me! 𝟐. 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐭 𝐌𝐲 𝐎𝐰𝐧: While we have specific guidelines and job descriptions, my leadership allowed me to make it my own within those parameters. So I am able to be creative and make my everyday work fun for me. 𝟑. 𝐅𝐮𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: This is what put me at the full 100%. This is what makes me stay at the office past 6:00pm and gives me a desire to be back early in the morning! I truly love the people I work with! We joke around, we go eat, we laugh, but we also work our butts off for each other because we genuinely care about each other! Some people could walk in our office any given day and possibly think we don’t do anything but joke around, what they wouldn’t notice is those times of us joking around and laughing is what propels us to work after hours, to go that extra mile for the deal and for the company because we have more invested than just a “9-5 day”. If you want your team to be 𝟏𝟎𝟎% or 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐈𝐍, you have to buy into the team/family dynamic. The greatest teams ever definitly worked hard and practiced, but they became 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 because they spent time with each other that grew them beyond their “sport”.
