There are so many reasons why I’m choosing the career path as a sideline reporter, but here are some stand outs! ⭐️First, being obvious. I LOVE telling the stories of athletes. Everyone knows their stats, can watch them play. But what do you know about them off the court, field, game? ⭐️Being an athlete at UCF gave me the gratitude to understand what it is like being a student athlete. The grit it takes to reach that level of athletics and pursue academics and want something greater for yourself. Making me understand the shoes athletes are in and what they may be going through. ⭐️I love working with athletes. They are self driven, self accomplished, eager individuals chasing a dream, a vision. ⭐️ There is nothing more fulfilling than getting to know an athletes story, the teams dynamic and then watching them play on game day knowing some of struggles, stories, and fun times that went into the day of. Then having the opportunity to tell the athletes story on air so that an audience can watch, listen to a story beyond the play and then capturing the post game interview excitement!

I got my dream job right out of college. I studied sports journalism and dreamed of writing for ESPN. 3 months after graduating… The first line on my resume read: Personalization Writer, ESPN I didn’t stop smiling for months. Every time a stranger asked me “What do you do for work?” I answered by telling them WHO I worked for. I wouldn’t even bother telling them what I did at ESPN. Just seeing their wide-eyed reaction made me burst with pride. It never got old. But just as quickly as my dream began… It was over. 14 months into the job, ESPN went through a massive reorg. My life changed with a single all-hands phone call that lasted less than 10 minutes. My entire team - including me - were laid off. I was crushed. But in hindsight, this experience was invaluable. I wouldn’t have the perspective I do today without having gone through this layoff early on in my career. I will always be grateful for my time at ESPN. And I will always be proud of myself for realizing my dream of getting a byline on ESPN.com. But the lessons I learned after it was over have brought me success in each role I’ve had since: → You are constantly changing and evolving → As a result, your priorities are constantly changing and evolving → What matters in your career at age 20 will inevitably shift over time as well I used these lessons to shift my career when my priorities changed. And now I help clients to do the same. How has your career shifted since you first started?

𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝟏𝟓 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.🖊🧾 𝐌𝐲 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 (𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐝) 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞-𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐫) 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭. Somehow I managed to figure out: 🤔 How do I structure myself and prioritize when I have several projects lined up at the same time? 😍 The youth page "K!arText" is my playground - what do I want to write about next? 🤯 Listen, ask, put it on paper: How can I improve my interviewing and writing skills? I was fully immersed in this challenge, from junior to regional journalist, always free-lancing. Like most people, at the age of 15 𝐈 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧. Soon, it became clear: 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 ...when my interviewees proudly told me about a special project/ hobby/ talent/ ... and made it into the daily newspaper for the first time ...when I felt appreciated, respected and got lots of helpful feedback. ...when I was able to broaden my horizons with every new article. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞: 😊 I work with colleagues and teams who share where there's room for improvement. First of all, I listen. 😊 The culture ambassador network of our business unit consists of colleagues from a wide variety of functions, regions, generations and hierarchies. Where do you get to hear more new perspectives than here? 😊 Appreciation, respect and feedback are among the partly official and partly unofficial but nevertheless practiced values within the community and in my team. The (very long) list could go on, I promise.
