During her senior year at Lorain Admiral King High School, Tiffany Tarpley honored her fellow 1998 graduates by reciting a poem by Maya Angelou, “And Still I Rise.” In that moment, she knew her path would involve public speaking. But the road wasn’t easy. And an article in The Plain Dealer from 2000, featuring the then LCCC student, reminds her of that. “…the writer said 15 or 20 years from now Tiffany Tarpley would be a household name in Northeast Ohio. It almost makes me emotional when I see it because it’s a realization, I think, of the hard work that I put in. And it’s so interesting, going back and looking through old clips and old things that were saved, it reminds you of the ‘Nos’ and the doors that were closed. And how optimistic you were and how you fought and clawed your way and prayed your way, to get to where you always wanted to be.” Meet Class of 2024 Commodore Hall of Fame Inductee, Tiffany Tarpley, Emmy Award-winning journalist and weekday morning co-anchor of Good Morning Cleveland on WEWS Channel 5 https://lnkd.in/g2ZWtc3j #LCCC60Years #LCCCProud

"The stories we tell have the power to change people's lives." That's what Samantha Morton highlighted in her emotional acceptance speech, as she received the BAFTA Fellowship Award. As PR professionals, we must consistently and continually ask ourselves: What story are we telling today? And who is the storyteller? These are important questions that remind us of the transformative power of our work. #publicrelations #storieschangeeverything Watch the video to see Samantha Morton's moving speech:

Founder & Impact Leader | Mission Inspired | Sales Consultant | Mental Health and Well-being Advocate | Mentor and Coach
Thank you Sharon Hargro Porter, Ed.D. for your contribution to education, media, journalism, and through this article, the conversation around mental and emotional well-being! I want to #highlight this powerful message from the article as I know there is someone who needs to read it today! "In the pursuit of truth, don’t forget to prioritize your mental well-being. Take breaks, seek support, and remember that your health matters as much as the story.” Journalism is about shedding light on darkness, but don’t let it consume you. Your mental health is not a story to be sacrificed; it’s essential for your resilience and effectiveness. Your work is vital, but so is your mental health. Take the time to check in with yourself and reach out for help when needed. You are not alone." Dr. Sharon- Keep shining your light, you are making an impact!
Our Editor-In-Chief, Sharon Hargro Porter, Ed.D. featured in Heart of Hollywood Magazine. Article written by Award-winning journalist, Tammy Reese! https://lnkd.in/eunYR2Hv
