Good railroading was around long before the regulations... As far back as 1915, crossovers had to be in correspondence, and going over a derail in the derailing position was a no-no. Good railroading should be in your blood. Be proud of who you are and the service you provide this country through safe and efficient operations. Is it in the CLEAR, or are you just hoping? Don't creep a misaligned switch or derail...make them walk. Protect your shoves, and don't assume you have room today because you had room yesterday... ...because you "always" have room...right? The switch target's nice, but check that point gap too. Properly tend your crossovers. Don't CALL clear until you've addressed that switch position and ARE clear. Hire right & train right. If you have to give them the answers on the rules test, maybe they should be doing something else. Approach the location of fixed derails EXPECTING TO FIND THEM APPLIED, and you'll go home every night. Mentor the less-experienced to perform service safely. It is your greatest contribution to our industry and your fellow railroader. Railroad like the licensed professionals you are, and have a safe week. The country doesn't move without you. #railroadsafety #justRAILROAD #butiwasntgoingthatfast #BLUEaint4U

Ever wondered why you see sand being sprayed on train tracks? 🤔 It's not just a routine, but a crucial safety measure, especially in challenging weather conditions. Trains face traction challenges, especially in slippery conditions like snow or ice. That's where sand comes in! 🏔️ When sprayed on the tracks, it forms a layer between the wheels and rails, significantly improving traction and reducing the risk of slipping. This simple yet effective technique has been a staple in the railroad industry, ensuring safety and efficiency even in adverse weather. 🌨️ P.s The guy in the video says the train will not move without sand, it will still move in most conditions! 🚂 #RailSafety #Transportation #Innovation

Never stand, walk or play on or near #railroad tracks. Not only is it extremely dangerous, it’s also illegal. Do not use tracks as shortcuts or for recreational purposes. Never stop a vehicle on railroad tracks and NEVER try to outrun a train. It’s not worth the risk. REMEMBER: Trains can move in either direction at any time, so always expect a train. They also have the right of way 100% of the time. Cross only at designated railroad crossings and observe all signs, signals and pavement markings. No matter where you are going or what your schedule is, when driving near #railroadtracks, ALWAYS EXPECT A TRAIN. If a railroad crossing gate is lowering or is all the way down, that means a train is approaching, even if you don’t see or hear it yet. It is illegal and dangerous to drive around lowered railroad crossing gates. Do not proceed until the lights turn off and the gates go up. REMEMBER: Never try to beat a train. It’s not worth the risk. oli.org https://lnkd.in/eZUBGQq #railsafety #SeeTracksThinkTrain #StopTrackTragedies
