Required reading: I read a lot of business and leadership books, including those which cover inclusion or the lack thereof. Over the last several years about 50 a year so I can spot an impactful book pretty readily at this point. I’m only 20 pages into “Please Sit Over There” by Francine Parham and I can’t wait to finish this book. The lessons on how Power really works and how it matters for people who don’t look like the people in the existing power structure are key to unlocking the full measure of success inside you. This should be required reading for everyone who plans on working in corporate America, but especially for anyone who is not white or male or a white male. These are timeless truths which address deeply ingrained societal and institutional biases that persist today and will persist well into the future. However, hope is not lost because as Francine shares, by understanding Power, which by itself is neither good nor bad, you can leverage it to succeed and to create a better, more inclusive world. Thank you Francine for sharing your hard-earned insights and wisdom with us.

Finally starting the Diary of a CEO by the inspirational Steven Bartlett and already blown away by the simplicity with which he explains his concepts and ideas. As someone who doesn't usually gravitate towards non-fiction, this book promises to be an easy read.
