Even a greater success if there is commitment to advancement and acceleration of NAMs… so I wonder if this move will increase animal based research by accessing closeby countries with less regulated, easier and cheaper “in vivo” testing. So I finally hopped on board Swiftie Express and did a story about why Singapore is able to attract all these international acts and events to come year after year, month after month. Much has been said about the factors that give Singapore an edge over its regional neighbours - developed infrastructure at the Singapore Sports Hub, safe environment, good governance, etc. - and of course, the grants that Singapore Tourism Board offered, which Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) Minister Edwin Tong SC said today was "nowhere as high" as speculated (more here: https://lnkd.in/gUceB3v8). I think what stood out for me in my interviews with industry watchers is that firstly, it may not always be viable for Singapore to expect or try to be the only stop in the region for any act, but what it can do is make sure that it is an unmissable stop. And secondly, going green could be one way to enhance Singapore's appeal, especially with sustainability the big buzz word now. So perhaps we might see more net-zero venues? The Foreign Affairs Office of Shanghai (Shanghai Municipal People's Government) and their teams pulled together a great cross-depart team to create this resource. They also leveraged a group of over 50 International Experience Officers to help gain insights on what the city can do to help make it easier for business owners, entrepreneurs, international workers and visitors to navigate #Shanghai. "Granted, we are no longer building a nation from scratch, but neither can we afford to cruise along and just rely on existing formulas. "We have to act with agility, foresight and gumption. We have to seek fresh solutions and chart our own path to take Singapore forward." Above was an extract from the National Day speech of our Singapore PM last night. It reasonates very loudly and could relate back to the recent announcement of the impending change of our Thermal business. As we prepare to transition and form a new standalone company, we are not building it from scratch. While we do have a strong legacy, powerful brands and a wealth of collective knowledge plus experience, we certainly cannot afford to just cruise along nor rest on our laurels. This is an important opportunity for us to chart our future - what and how we want to position ourselves. We need to plot and map out our domains and playground where we can grow incrementally. The leadership team of the new Thermal company needs to think and act with Agility, wider foresight and gumption. We have to look and think outside the box to see where we can play and how we can win.
