Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry (Singapore)🇸🇬

Pleased to attend the Singapore Heartlands Enterprise Summit this afternoon. This year, over 300 heartland enterprises are attending the Summit - a 30% increase compared to last year. In my speech, I shared that heartland enterprises’ drive towards digital transformation has gained speed and traction with the widespread use of CDC vouchers, which are claimed and redeemed digitally. Two days ago, DPM @Gan Kim Yong announced the distribution of the fifth tranche of CDC vouchers. Within two days, as of today, more than 650,000 Singaporean households have claimed their June 2024 vouchers. We are heartened that the scheme has nudged hawkers and heartland merchants onto digital platforms and many have found the scheme beneficial in boosting their business and customer reach. Across the first 4 tranches of the CDC Voucher Scheme, more than $1.1 billion have been spent at participating hawkers, heartland merchants and supermarkets - an impressive feat considering we launched the scheme just two and a half years ago. Of this, close to $650 million was spent at heartland shops and hawker stalls. We expect this amount to rise to more than $900 million by the end of this year. The scheme has also encouraged our heartland merchants to adopt other e-payment methods, with more than 9 in 10 heartland shops offering at least one e-payment solution while about two-thirds have adopted digital tools and platforms. Under the Heartland Innovation and Transformation programme, several enterprises will be launching novel products and services by the end of this year. Our heartland revitalisation efforts are also well underway, with heartland festivals – most recently Rasa Gombak Day Out – organised to attract footfall and enhance neighbourhood vibrancy. We will press on with our efforts to support our heartland enterprises and work closely with industry partners such as @The Federation of Merchants’ Associations, Singapore (FMAS) on precinct rejuvenation projects. I urge heartland merchants and hawkers to join the CDC Voucher Scheme as well as participate in @Enterprise Singapore’s initiatives to continually transform, innovate, and stay ahead. Thanks to FMAS for organising this summit and partnering us to champion and propel our heartland enterprises to greater heights! #MyCDCVouchers
