So I finally hopped on board Swiftie Express and did a story about why Singapore is able to attract all these international acts and events to come year after year, month after month. Much has been said about the factors that give Singapore an edge over its regional neighbours - developed infrastructure at the Singapore Sports Hub, safe environment, good governance, etc. - and of course, the grants that Singapore Tourism Board offered, which Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) Minister Edwin Tong SC said today was "nowhere as high" as speculated (more here: https://lnkd.in/gUceB3v8). I think what stood out for me in my interviews with industry watchers is that firstly, it may not always be viable for Singapore to expect or try to be the only stop in the region for any act, but what it can do is make sure that it is an unmissable stop. And secondly, going green could be one way to enhance Singapore's appeal, especially with sustainability the big buzz word now. So perhaps we might see more net-zero venues?
